Default Things i still NEED (want)

Well wound up with the Kury grips for free from dealer....ordered the Arlen Ness Micro Teardrop II mirrors last night.

Now i need (want):

1a) NXL Half Helmet (cause i fell in love with riding w/o a helmet in Daytona)
1b) Riding glasses/goggles (see above)

2) Bike Cover (Nelson-Rigg or equivalent)

3) LED's

i "think" this will be all for a while...

if anyone has a link or info on where to get any of these items it would be apprecited. The hardest thing for me to find is going to be a small pair of riding glasses/goggles. I have a skinny face that doesnt look good in large or wide glasses.

.

The most common head injury from riding a motorcycle is to the jaw and chin region...unless you like drinking your steak through a straw, I wouldn't think of wearing anything other than a full-face helmet...

Just my $0.02 worth...

My freind with a 2005 raven black r6 was messing around doing wheelies he 12 o clocked and laned face first like inspiron said on his chin area. If it wasnt for his helmet he probally would have died or broke his jaw... ya this was like at 70 or 80 mph

I learned my lession after i saw that crap to one never mess with wheelies and 2 wear a full face all the time.

You see, I still don't get what's so great about riding w/out a helmet. Maybe it's just me, but I don't get it.

thanks for all the advice, i know the dangers. i am going to ride with a helmet, i just want to protect my cranium from cracking open with as little wind resistance as possible. These NXT helmets are very low profile. In the hot FL summer, a full face is really not comfortable.

So thank you to Oldgeezer for following the request of the thread.

And you think drinking your meals because your jaw had to be wired shut is is comfortable? There are some fine full-face helmets with excellent ventilation ... Shoei and Arai come to mind. Yes, they are expensive ... but how much did that college education cost you?

it must be the windburn you get when you're doing 75 mph in 20 mile an hour winds. i hear some folks are into pain...

as for me, that was enough for me to say "tough sh*t if my helmet hits you in the back of your bare head, i'm wearing it, or i'm not hitching a ride with you."

Just wear the FF helmet. I lived in SC for almost three years. I wore a helmet that whole time.

I live in So-TX again. I'll wear a helmet here too. Temps are no biggie. Suck it up tough guy! I know too many people who have died from not wearing helmets, or been seriously injured.

I gave you some links. I guess you can still get some LED's and a bike cover.

like i said...i will still be wearing a DOT certified helmet...not like i am riding around without one...i did ride without one in daytona, but that was bumper to bumper traffic all day and night so a different story.

i PLAN on not getting into ANY accidents, but i do want to protect my skull so hence the half helmet. lots of people wear them on cruisers. i dont ride a sprt bike, i dont like riding over 65-70 mph and i dont ride in the rain. not to say this means i cant be in an accident, but i dont take unnecessary risks.

.

yes?

go tell all the sport bike riders that want to do the "twisties" at 90mph about riding safety.....or the stunters.....or dirt bike riders....those are unnecessary risks, i ride to enjoy the open road...not speed, not bling, not tricks....
MILLIONS of people wear half helmets....i wear a 3/4 helmet now but it is getting loose on me and i never have felt comfortable turning my head to look around or head check behind me because the wind blows my head around...with a half helmet i can do that more comfortably. everyone keeps responding like i said i was going to ride helmetless!

if you guys dont have anything productive to the thread, dont reply....im 32 yrs old and know the risks. Nut...you mentioned NR covers...the defender 2000 fpr $60? or the 400/500/600 for $50?

any more help on a good LED supplier or places to get nice slim riding glasses would be appreciated too.

The first week I started riding motorcycles I threw on a hoodie for a ride to help in case I crashed(before I had bought a leather jacket). My friend said, "Hoodies and leathers are for pussies."

I just said "I won't be crying like a pussy when I'm laying on the side of the road because I have raw flesh laying in the dirt."

Sorry, that's just my justification. You would lose no respect from me if you wore a skull cap. At least you are wearing a helmet.

DRESS FOR THE WRECK, NOT THE RIDE.

Dude, we're only giving you crap because the love is there. I have only ever worn a full-face helmet, and I live in muggy, hot Memphis, TN. Our summers are very much like the FL summers, except the average temp is probably 5-10 degrees cooler, which ain't much when you're talking high 80's to low 100's. Like FL, our humidity hangs in there above 85% for the whole summer.

I just don't want to be looking at another thread where a forum member is in the hospital for weeks (on another forum, we had a guy get seriously injured, almost bled out . . . he had a FF on, so his face is still perfect, BTW).

Again, we're only giving you crap because the love is there.

im not mad at you guys, i understand where you are coming from and i understand the risks of wearing less than a suit of armor when riding. Full helmet, armored jackets and pants and full riding boots and gloves would be the best one could do...but we all know that just doesnt happen on a regular basis, if at all.

im just looking for some help in finding items i want here...was a little uspet that all i got was a hard time reagarding buying a half helmet rather than some info on those items.

"i love you guys" (but you cant have my bud light) haha

Try driving around in a drop top car some time and you might get a clue.
