Default Daytona Bike Week Experience

WOW! Ive been riding 2 months or so...got the new M50 two weeks ago....my first (of many to come) trip to Bike Week...and WOW is all i can say!

Rode up through the center of the state on some nice back roads. Had a LONG straight road through ocala national forrest and got the M up to 100 for a couple seconds, dont ever want to go that fast on 2 wheels again, but wanted to be able to say i did it!

Rode in on SR 92 under I-95 and stopped at Daytona Speedway Friday about 3 pm. Saw all the displays of Suzuki, Honda, Kaw, Yam, Ducati, etc etc. Some nice custom bikes made out of standard bikes too (mostly Kaw Warriors but others too).

Rode down speedway towards the beach in bumper to bumper stop start traffic for about an hour, turned north on US 1 and headed up to our hotel about 20 miles north of daytona. checked in, dinner, waited for 4th member of our group to show up in his jeep with our stuff.

Up at 6 am and out the door by 630. COLD outside riding down A1A with the sun coming up over the atlantic ocean on our left...beautiful!!! Breakfast at IHOP...down into the beach area, across Main street and parked right at Riverfront Park.

Rats Hole bike show, lots of bikes and women serving drinks in nice little panties and tops!! Pier bike show. All over town looking at bikes and displays (West Coast Choppers and too many to list).

Back out to speedway in the afternoon, did all the displays again plus the other end with the vendors (Big Dog, Bourget and more). SOOO Much to see!!!

Back into town in the evening, to A1A and up to the hotel in the dark. Downtown Daytona was awesome with stuff to see all around us!

Sunday we again went down A1A and town was much less traffic. Stopped at a couple areas we missed saturday, then out towards the speedway. Stopped at OCC display, lunch at Hooters, then headed out about noon.

Ride back was soo nice, warm enough for short sleeves even on the bike (most bank signs ain Orlando said it was about 83 deg). Got home around 5.

I cant wait till next year!! We plan to get a hotel closer and do more of the night time stuff. With the hotel distance, we really didnt want to get into drinking or finding parking for the jeep.

Pics will be posted once my home internet service is working again (service appt tonight better get it running).

I rode over on saturday from Ocala to Daytona, I'll be posting some pics as well. Nothing to exciting just a couple of nice shots. I haven't made it to the digital age yet I'm still shooting film. Sat. was great I usually park in a church parking lot just behind the ocean center and walk to main street. Everywhere was packed, the crowd was crushing and traffic was bumper to bumper unless you knew the back roads. The ride back throught the forest that night was quite chilly though, had my wife on the back so I couldn't get as low as I'd have done solo, so I took most of the windchill for her.

Hunter: as mentioned above....pics later tonight IF i get my cable internet working when the cable guy comes tonight.

I need a good free place to host Albums (cause i am not posting 80 pics inline!) I used to use Imagestation....and still can, but then others need to sign up to see it. is Yahoo better?

I use yahoo I like it. You can link right to the album. I've even ordered prints from them. Turned out nice. Took like three weeks though.
