Default cash back

Does a cash back offer come off the dealers profit? Yamaha offers $200.00 cash back right now. Should that have any effect on what a dealer is willing to come off of MSRP? Bike lists for $5699.00 with an additional $200.00 cash back. Would an offer of $5500 out the door be reasonable or should I be looking at getting closer to the $5000.00 mark? The dealers initial offer was $6000.00 OTD including the cash back, and that aint happening.

In the case of cars, such cash back offers are paid by the manufacturer, not the dealer. I would assume it's the same for bikes.

Man wouldn't it be easier if they just took $200 off to begin with. It's almost as annoying as cell-phone rebates. "Yeah you should get your money back in about 5 months."

cash back comes from the manufact. it is incentives to get them on the road. that is how i got my M50 for such a good price...there was an incentive to sell it before the end of the month (with the bike hitting dealers the 25th and 26th of the month, with only 28 in feb).

i know stock28 is looking at the same bike...maybe a good deal will pop up the end of march? the end of the month is always the best time to shop for an automobile

.
