Default Bikes Stands

If I want to do work on my bike or just set it up straight so it isn't leaning in my garage. What all would I need?

Paddock stands, either one at the front and one at the back,or the type that lifts the bike up from the middle.
Another way is to buy (expensive) the raising platform that holds the bike by the front wheel.

So either a front or real will hold the bike up?

Would this work?

Look into a Lockhart Phillips rear stand. They make quality stuff. This stand will lift up the rear wheel and keep the bike straight up. Also, it is much easier to lube the chain because you can spin the rear wheel while it's up. You can usually find these stands right at your nearest bike shop. Depending on which kind you get they can range from $50 to $150 depending on what you get. Mine cost me $80.

I just wanted something this is:

A) not terrible expensive
b) works and sturdy and I don't have to work about something falling over

Just wondering why they are so cheap and others are like $100

Edit: Just realized they are $132 + $92

Yes I have a Lockhart. Its nice. I feel like if you low ball a bit too much the things get harder to set up with every dollar less you spend (but I'm not saying drop your college funds on a $500 one). Wouldn't you be angry if you bought a 20 dollar stand and found your pristine bike laying on its side and a bent stand beside it?

If you can scrape a few bucks more get some Pit Bull stands. Strong ,sturdy, built to last. Much better built than most of the stuff available today. I've broken or worn out plenty. These will be around a long time and your bike is sure to always remain up right!

Bro...that IS my garage floor lol...the garage is like 2/3rds tile, and the rest is normal garage concrete.... we had the garage converted into a room for a bit, till the beeyatches at code violations wanted to rip us a new one for not having the proper permits (and not wanting to give us one in order to keep it)

I thought that way at first but you have to clean and wax the bike chain every 600 miles the intervals between use are far less then you'd think. I mean I don't think I'll put 600 miles on my bike in 2-3 months right??? How about 600 miles in as few as 2-3 weeks when you add in the 200-300 mile sunday group rides and the 150-200 commuting miles to work or school every week. In the past 8 months I've clean and waxed the chain over 11 times.

So yeah even you Pug will be needing a decent rear stand more then you know right now. The front is more of a once in a long while deal untill you start to do front fork work. $80-$130 for a good rear stand it worth it when you look at the fact that it will last your lifetime.

So I need to service my chain every day?

I actually try to do that every 600 miles. Sometimes it's just not possible.

pfff service your chain everyday? unless im a super bike craze, i dont think so, i might check if its not rusted, or just look at it, but i agree with gixxerdale, 600 miles = good.
