My little 1k has a 4.8 gallon tank and with taking it easy I get around 35mpg. Fuel light is on at 140 miles and I "should" have about a gallon left, I've never tested it.

Question is does anyone have experience carrying additional fuel?

I have a ride coming up that one leg is 172 miles between stations! Headwinds or hard riding and I'm gonna be dry! My current solution id 2 MSR 33oz backpacking fuelbottles in my saddlebags. It's a touch over a 1/2 gallon, but it may be all I need, I hope. If not it will be a call to AAA or siphon time, if someone has a larger tank on the ride.

I've heard of a company here makes tanks that replace your Pillion seat and latch in just like your seat does, then is run to your main tank. It's a little much for me, being semi permanent and very expensive.

Does anyone else have any solutions?
And no way! A touring bike is out of the question!
