Default insurance

This makes no sense to me. State Farm rates go by CC alone. Premiums for a 750 cruiser are listed higher than a 636r! I always thought the type of bike had a big part in the price of the premium. Anyone else experience this?

I would probably look elsewhere for my 750 cruiser insurance. Bike-line is good for my cruisers and my sport-tourer.

Most insurance companies do look at what type of bike it is (cruiser vs high-performance) before they look at the engine size. However, my insurance company, USAA, also goes solely by engine size, so I am paying slightly more for my '03 800 Marauder than I was for my '04 Gixxer 600. It can be an advantage or a disadvantage depending on what type of bike you have. I'm sticking with USAA because I'm paying $185 a month to insure 3 new vehicles. Considering my wife's driving record, that's not too bad. (She was paying $250/month on a Pontiac Sunfire before we got married)

Go with somebody else, or at least see how much other people's insurance is. If you have a lower cc bike (like me) its an advantage. But I use progressive anyway, $122/yr for me.

With progressive it runs me 122/yr for liability insurance. My bike isn't worth enough to pay the horrible premiums for anything else.

$207 a year for a 2005 C50 with Progressive - full coverage and $250 deductibles.

$2052 a year?? You have to be under 25, have mad tickets or at least 1 at fault wreck and don't have anything else insured with them.

She's only been in two accidents and both of them involved someone else hitting her because they weren't paying attention.

Bodily Injury, including passenger, 20k/40k - property 10k. Also includes 1k custom parts/equipment at no extra charge. I don't carry uninsured motorist coverage.

Lucky you. Here in WV, Uninsured Motorist coverage is required by law. So is Underinsured Motorist coverage, which for some reason is a lot more expensive.

Guess I can't complain. I pay $350 a year for full coverage on an '04 VTX Retro and the ol' lady's '04 Savage. I did have to switch to this company 'cause the the company that carries the rest of my insurance wanted more than that just to insure the VTX.
