Still ridin', still cold. Not truck title yet.

Gixxerdale: I hear you on the 208's. I've only had one set of Dunlop's, but they slid all over the place. No more for me. Right now, I'm ruining a set of Metzeler Sportec M-1's, by running up and down the highway to work everyday. Sport tires get a flat spot real easy, methinks.

Medium compound Dunlops are known for not being real sticky until warmed up. I was using a set of medium compound 207GPs last winter at Infineon. They were leftovers I was going to run for an endurance race in Oct. which never happened. Well, I was having SERIOUS scary 2-wheel slides up through T2 and also into T7 hard on the brakes on the first lap or two. Didn't have tire warmers then.

I was glad to get rid of them and get a softer compound!

Hey Junky,

It's winter ... we just have to face that fact. Why not do what I'm doing ... collecting new stuff for the bike (let's see ... new air filter, new oil filter, new brighter headlight bulb, tailBlazer for the rear-end lights, new windscreen, sattlebags and tankbags, spine protector, camping materials, etc.) and some books to improve your riding skills (I've picked up "The Soft Science of Road Racing" and "Total Control: High-Performance Street Riding Techniques" by Lee Park.)

And I'm working through "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance", but that has less to do with motorcycles ... it's more philosophy.

Today was the 1st day I rode in over a month. We just got 8 new inches on Fri, and today was 42F here so it was melting liek mad, so I finally got to take the dirtbike for little rip since the top end rebuild. Went pretty good, still a bit slippery in some spots..

I am about halfway through "Total Control: High-Performance Street Riding Techniques". The chapters are pretty short (a few pages each), and cover different aspects of riding - both physical and mental. I liked the chapter about suspension - FINALLY someone has explained in an almost understandable way what preloading, compression-damping and recoil-damping are, and how they affect performance. And the chapter about concentration is almost like a Zen training - try to think of nothing at all ... it's not as easy as it sounds!

From what I've read so far, I would give the book a 3+ on a 1..5 scale. YMMV.

When I'm finished with Total Control, then I'll start with the Code book.

I rode in, and I'm riding home.

Supposed to rain here this weekend. Maybe I'll get to hit the curves, maybe not.

For all of you who are still riding ... why don't you just go pound sand up your collective arses

It's 20°F here, and there is about 6" of snow on the ground ...

Humm I just put my SM2 bars on the SV and will be taking it out for a ride in a bit. Temps rebounded down here into the 70s after the recent 50s so it's all good!!

Three snow storms in one week.... -38c with the wind chill,, snow almost up to my neck in the driveway side from shoveling. The good part about Canada having snow, is that our bikes will last twice as long because we are not able to drive all year long. But when we do drive,, man what a great felling...
