How are you going to cope until next season? I'd never buy a bike in winter. It'd kill me.

it's driving me insane right now. and i haven't even got the bike to my house yet. i'll work on it over the rest of winter. like take all the body parts off and fix/prep to get paint'd. and maybe i'll have alittle extra cash left over from my other projects(my drag and autoX crx's ) to put into the bike. we'll see.

It's better to ask than not know and get hurt. KAOS, welcome the wonderful world of motorcycling!!!

Personally I wouldn't worry about getting it painted right now unless you just really have the money to burn. If you do end up dropping it with a custom paintjob.....
Worry about mechanical stability and rider ability before cosmetics.

well i could do all the body/prep work myself. and my friends parents own a body shop(sometimes i work there). so they'll give me a good deal on it. it'll maybe cost me $200 tops. i could just trade some work for the paint job. or some car parts. the paint job isn't going to be crazy or anything. it'll most likely be black and red.

Prekarious makes a very good point, and you have all winter to go over the bike with a fine tooth comb. So get a manual, read it, re read it, then read it again, before wrenching. Don't rush, you have several months! Do it right and in spring you will be sure to have a road worthy bike.
