Default New rider!!

Whats going on everybody?

Im new to the board...just joined this morning

I just picked up a 94 Suzuki Katana 600 with 5,186 miles on it.....this is my first bike. I dont know much of anything about them...so any advice or anything you guys would like hand down to me would be much appreciated.

I am also looking to be pointed in the direction of a place to buy parts from....I would like to put different wheels on my bike and a couple other things to make it look nicer.

Any advice would be kewl!!

Thanks in advance!!

DAAAAAAAMMNN!! Bike wheels are crazy expensive....Ive got a decent hook-up on car rims and tires...I can get a set of 17" rims with tires for $800...the cheapest bike wheels I have found were $1600!!

Damn. All you guys beat me to be first to say "Welcome", and a few other things

I agree with sytrix, bike wheels are rediculously overpriced. that was your point right?

I would enjoy your bike first before I worried about changing it's look, get to know it and learn to be able to get the most out of it. If you had to change the look, I would go with a kick ass paint job just my humble opinion

Welcome to the site you will find a lot of answers to you questions. I would ask right up front, Did you buy some good protective gear when you bought your bike, you should have a good helmet, gloves, jacket, and some decent boots to wear

You are right....I am going to get used to my bike first and everything...and it does need a new paintjob..already lookin into that I was just looking ahead a bit to see what was available out there to switch around in the future.

I am comparing prices and everything right now for all of that stuff....helmet, boots, gloves, & a jacket...ya know all tha goodies

I wouldn't worry about a paint job just yet. Wait for atleast one full season just in case something happens and you drop it. If you do that after paying for a nice paint job you will be seriously pissed!

As far as advice: Obviously take the MSF at first chance. Also put your owners manual next to the toilet so that you have no excuse to not read it. All kinds of information there.

Other than that, enjoy and don't push past your comfort level unless you really wanna see up close just how different every piece of gravel in the road really is.

Oh yeah, Welcome
