That is an amazing SV. I like the full fairing on the SV-S; the bikini alone looks nasty. Also, that high mount exhaust is the best I've seen. Usually, a high mount is ugly, but that short can mounted up high shows off the swingarm without grabbing attention. I have the same top box on my DRZ. Mounting it on the rear seat is pretty neat.

It just looks like a wannabe racebike, that's all. I know I don't want to own something that looks like something it's not. Have seen enough Beamers with M3 or M5 sticker on the back, which really are a 3.20 or a 5.20 with some minor mods. You cannot expect everybody to like your mod, and I'm just telling you I dislike it. Accept that. | |

The new ones come stock with full fairings If anything, my bike resembles this bike. It happens to be a touring machine, not a "wannabe racebike". If I'd want it to look like a race bike I'd add "R/SS/S/RR" decals and "sponsor" stickers. Speaking of racebikes, SVs make great ones for the "Lightweight Twin SuperStock" in WERA. The 2nd Gen. SV still has a trellis frame. It is just squared-off instead of round. Here's my '03 SV1000S. First year of the 2nd gens. First year of the 996cc version. ![]()

Hit 30,000 miles a couple weeks ago. Haven't been able to do as much riding as I want lately. I've got a trail ride coming up next weekend. 70 miles of gravel and 2-3 water crossings. I think I'm gonna have to remove my lower fairing for ground clearance. ![]() |

Most gravel is fine on street tires. Although, freshly graded gravel can be menacing. Avon Distanzias are great on gravel and are available in 17 inch diameter.
