I don't know of any vehicle manufacturer that actually makes the individual parts for a vehicle. A lot of times, a supplier will change the way they do something or have a problem with their processes. Sometimes an issue with a supplier for the supplier. Unfortunately, some of these issues are not caught before the part gets out. Sometimes it is something that is missed in quality control, something that isn't (or reasonably can't be) tested for, or, at times, because of human error. I have never owned anything other than a Honda or Suzuki and have never had any unusual problems with either. Honda has such a reputation for longevity, that I am sure they would fix a problem like unusual sprocket wear if it was a fault of the design.

I out and out neglected the chain on my old cb750 - I oiled the chain once or twice between replacements (of the tire, which is when I replaced the chain)

and never did my sprockets give me any trouble.

they were a bit round, mind you, but never broke.

but that old cb750 only had about 50 - 55 hp though.

I guess I should run out and sell my Honda with 48k on it (and not one problem) so I can buy a super sport bike so i can drive 200 MPH in school zones. I think that is what I am gathering from certain individuals on this board. Rickety remind me what brand of bike never needs maintenance so i can go get one. I will be sure to get me some flip flops, shorts, and a wife beater shirt also.

I made my observation and prefaced it;

my bike didn't have much power, otherwise I would have most likely chewed up a cog or two over the 45 k that the bike had on it when I sold it.

and let me tell you, it shifted like butter; I kept thinking I didn't make the shift when I did. It was buttery smooth shifting.

not like the old xs - it clunks when you shift it, there ain't no missing anything.

i would like to know of those 5 guys though...

how often did they clean their chain/sprockets?
how many miles on the sprocket before it gave out?

i doubt none of the 5 had a chameleon oiler or took take of their chain and sprockets properly...
maybe they were too busy shining it

All good info except for the first bit. It only takes balls bigger than your brains to wheelie...

And as to real men. I wonder how much real racing you do on your phallis enhancer?

I'm confused. Did somebody remove ricketycricket's posts from this thread? Isn't it OK for people to disagree? We are all in this together, right?

Disagreeing and expressing a different viewpoint is what forum's are for alot of times. However there's a way to do it respectfully and then there's a way to be belligerent, confrontational and disrespectful. If you respond more like the latter you'll eventually find yourself on the outside looking in.

and for some reason, at this point, I am reminded of a far side cartoon (remember them)

and there's a picture of a guy on a horse, only protected with cardboard boxes.

and the caption reads "and briefly, the merits of cardboard armor were tried."
