I finally got my first ride of the year under my belt and it really helped me remember why I ride in the first place. Last week I was feeling pretty downtrodden, tired, etc. I started a horrendous schedule that has me working 36hrs (weekend nights) and going to college 38 (weekdays) so I haven't really had the energy or the time to work on/clean/prep my bike. Now I'll admit that I should have givin her a complete work over before going for the ride and I will this week but I couldn't help myself. I forgot to unhook the battery or even turn off the petcock after my last ride of the season and she's been sitting outside through all the crappy weather so I figured I was doomed to a crap ton of work to get it first started and then running properly but I was wrong. I turned the key and found that my lights were still working and so I hit the starter and she cranked, choked it a little and she fired right up. Just like new. I rode to school on Friday. Wednesday it was over 70deg and sunny, I didn't ride. Thursday, cloudy but still dry and temps in the mid 60s, didn't ride. When did I ride... Friday, maybe 60deg drizzling most of the day and me riding my little 250 back and forth to school with quite possibly the largest S*** eatin' grin of my life plastered on my face. It was soo nice to be able to use the carpool lane again. I can't even begin to say how it made me feel, just riding again. Yesterday I got home from work and slept for 4 hours, I got up washed my bike a second time, went inside and cleaned my bedroom, vacuumed the house, etc. It's nice to get a little boost like that every now and again. Sorry for not making sense, it's hard too at 0140 but I just had to get that out there. |
