Motorcycle Ride Volunteer Network

This is a pretty cool thing. If you would like to give a disabled person a ride on your bike, click the link. It's a world-wide thing, we can all get involved.

Orlando Volunteer needed for a blind rider for Biketoberfest. I promised I'd send a link.

As much as I'd like to do something like that...I don't think it would be a treat for someone to ride with me!!

I don't think I'll ever feel comfortable to ride with a passenger...

I am waaaay to new to be offering rides to anyone. Hell I need as much practice by myself as possible. Its a nice thought, maybe after next riding season.

I'd like to do it, but I have never given anyone a ride before (I have been riding for 2 summers now). Should I find a friend to practive giving rides to first?

Yeah, practice a bit first. You should be ready. The bikes weight shifts a little different with more weight on top. Its been said that you make the rules but your rider is really the boss. When riding my girl, I can tell exactly how she's sitting, which side her head is looking on, and where she's at on the seat from how the bikes handles and how the air flows. Pretty cool actually. Just remember to keep your passenger's safety in mind as well as your own. It will take you a little bit longer to stop so be ready for that. Have some signals worked out so that you know when they need a break from those "comfortable" passenger seats. Good luck and have lots of fun.

When I was registering, it looks like they have a pretty thorough screening process for the volunteers. Just to start with they're asking how long you've had your license, how many miles you've got under your belt, and how many miles you have riding 2-up. Oddly enough, nothing about completing an MSF course (or it's foreign equivelent)

To actually answer your question - yeah, it'd probably be a good idea to get some 2-up practice before registering.

Your 'rules' seem to about like mine, LayinLo. Passenger wants to go slower, we slow down. Passenger wants to go faster, we speed up (within limits ). Especially with a cruiser, one of my goals is for my passenger to hear a gear change, but not so much feel it. No neck snappage. Besides, that usually just rebounds into them smacking the back of your helmet

I'm all about giving a good ride!!!!!

I want them to feel safe, but on the edge. To thrill but not scare. It definitely takes some 2-up saddle time and a lot of 1-up time.

This should be how they feel:
