Agree 100%. I'm no where near ready to ride street. I just want to get a bunch of cones, get a bike that I want and practice for a few hundred miles. I had such fun riding in a parking lot lol.

I should add what happened with my class...

Classroom was supposed to be friday night with riding all day sat and sun. Didn't happen that way. We did half the classroom friday night, didn't get to the range till 130 saturday and stopped at like 7. Sunday we got there 7am but had to finish by like 1. I thought you were supposed to get two FULL days on the range. Wish I had more time to do the box, that's where I had the most trouble and as far as I'm concerned the only place I got points off in the test. I say as far as I'm concerned because when we were practicing curves, I got the bike down far enough to scrape. (wasn't that far, and wasn't long. Thankfully I watched Ride like a Pro and knew when I scraped to not panic and just ride with it.) Was told to slow down. He took points off in the test part because I went too slow. WTF?!?

What bike did you ride for the course?
Did we mention that yours will probably feel and handle a good deal differently?

They told us in the class, every bike is different and you REALLY need to learn the new feelings before you try to just ride...so yea I'm well informed.

This was my baby for the weekend...we had so much fun together. She will be missed lol... http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photo...0Marauderb.jpg

Fine bike. I've got one.
It's even the right color; black is faster.
With a 250, you need all the help you can get !!!

LOL, yea...she felt damn slow, then again we didn't get much speed going for the class...fastest we've gone was switching into 3rd gear (I never actually looked at the speedo...was just concentrating on keeping my head and eyes where I wanted to go).

I found out the hard way, NEVER EVER look at anything you didn't want to hit. Now, I've read it and heard it countless times, but I really needed to try it for myself. I did the offset weaves, once looking at the cones, the next few times looking straight ahead. Nailed it every time I looked straight ahead and not at the cones. Proof positive that it really really WORKS! Head and eyes are the absolute key.

I just signed up for a safety course (refresher) ... I try to take one every year:

Here's the plan for my course (1 day):

Morning
- Gymnastics on the bike
- Tight slalom
- Circle & figure 8
- Braking on pavement
- Obstacle avoidance
- Stop and go

Afternoon
- Curve practice (with video)
- Discussion
- Test

The test is "sponsored" by my insurance company, so the whole day (including lunch) costs only about $90.

Ok, I'll give you that one, but what do you call the 18 yr. old that has never even sat on a bike and goes out and buys gsxr 1000 and rides away from the dealership? Whatever that word is, would be the more appropriate one. I have a word, its Kyle, but that was the name of an old co-worker who bought that bike and spent more in the first summer on repairs than he did for the original purchase.

We had a few veteran riders in the class that learned a LOT from the class and were very vocal about it.

I cannot recommend tramas anymore for the MSF. The fact that I've been waiting over a month for my endorsement is complete horse doody.

Won't do any good if the endorsement has to come from Albany. They don't move...ever. If it truly is coming from albany it could be yet another month before I see any papers.

I'm going to be calling Tramas and giving them a piece of my mind, but I can't just yet. JUST in case I have to have them resubmit something I don't want them to be aware of my anger.

Once I get my endorsement however, the gloves are off and I will make them very aware how unacceptable it is for them to charge as much as they do $350, and make us wait like this, and not even give us the insurance discount on top of it!!!

The issue is not with the DMV though, I know they take that long and longer.

The issue I have was they TOLD me they sent the cards at the end of the class, not the DMV. I received an envelope with a letter from them saying "Take the enclosed card to the DMV for your license". There was no card in the envelope. It was only then did I call them to find out why they forgot my card and was told "oh we don't do that anymore, you have to wait for the DMV to send you one".

My gripe is not that the dmv is taking so long, my gripe is I was told I get an insurance discount, and the card from THEM, but they lied. That's my issue. I paid $350 bucks for a class, an insurance discount, and an endorsement card in a timely manner. 2 out of 3 they just decided AFTER I paid for it to tell me they don't do anymore.

In WI I just took the paperwork I got from the BRC class and went to the DMV and waited in line for about an hour, but walked out with a new license with the M endorsement.

It took over two months though to get my license plates from the state which was fairly irritating. I didn't bother with the insurance, I had already paid for it, and was only $127 for the whole year. I would have got back maybe $6.

When I got mine (also in NY) it was a 3 day affair. It cost $275 and I got my paperwork the week after. I was on the road the week after that (finally legal).

Noregrets... this is worrying me, as I'll be doing my class in a couple of weeks. I hope this doesn't mean that I'll have to mess around like that.

Sorry that your dealing with obstinate people. Hopefully you'll get your license soon!
