Reckon we can stand one more Cajun on board.

I'm sure folks will pop up shortly with all sorts of leads on bolt-ons, etc., but if you've perused the board at all you've probably seen a good bit about the MSF courses. That'd be Motorcycle Safety Foundation - USA. I'm not sure what the licensing requirements are in La. any more, but used to be if you had the certificate from the rider safety course, you were exempt from parts of the DL exam. Even where it's not a requirement (like ALabama) it's still a d@mn good idea.
Following link has info about for Louisiana...

Just curious, is that an '04 Intruder? I had looked at these earlier this year. Definitely let us know how the bike works for you.

Read everything you can around here.
Take an MSF course ASAP.
Always wear your gear.

Be careful with your right wrist. A 1400 is alot of motor - very slight wrist movements cause very big acceleration!
Did I mention to take an MSF course ASAP?

Can't help you there ... but I do recommend NEVR DULL and Turtlewax to keep the bike shiny. (Not to mention WD-40, the Swiss Army Knife of the garage).

You people never get over that knife, do you?

[swiss guy accent] It's got a blade, a lanyard, nail clipper, a toothpick, tweezers, scissors, a magnifying glass, a fish scaler, a ruler, a screwdriver, a phillips-head screwdriver, another screwdriver, an awl . . . and it all fits neatly in the trunk of your car . . . wait, you do drive a Hummer, don't you?[/swiss guy accent]

Just kidding.

Alright, you've got me . . . I'm just jealous because there's no "Memphis Army Knife", which would have a crack pipe, a lighter, a 9mm derringer, a prosthetic middle finger, an old shoe, and a fair amount of built-up ketchup.
