Default What a Glorious Day for a Ride!

Here in Western NC we are experiencing an Indian Summer with temps reaching the 70s during the daytime and only dropping down into the 40s at night. After a couple of weeks of stoking up the wood stoves it's nice to get a little respite before the cold weather sets in for the long haul.

With the sky shining Carolina blue today it was a glorious day for ride to take in our lovely autumn foliage. I took off around noon from Marion, NC where I live and headed south into SC down to Lake Bowen. It's a 100 mile round trip ride from my place and every mile of it today was fabulous! The temperature was perfect, no wind to speak of, beautiful red and gold leaves on every tree along the way! I wish there was some way I could package it all up and send it off to everyone, but I guess the best I can do is just try to describe it.

I was fortunate to be able to retire early (21 years ago at age 36) and one of the big fringe benefits is being able to go for rides on week days, rather than on weekends when everyone else is on the road. The beauty of riding during the week is that you practically own the road with so little traffic out on the country back roads.
