Our local stealer requires you to sign a contract for the bike just like you are buying it. If something happens you bought it. I think that this prevents any "joy riding". When we were in high school we would take "test drives" and drive the cars pretty hard.

My local Kawsaki dealer not only allows test rides, they encourage them. It seems like if you look at a bike for more than a minute or two, someone is there with the keys, offering a ride. The Suzuki/Yamaha/Victory dealer has changed hands, so I don't know their current policy. Under the old ownership, they also encouraged rides. Last spring, I went in with a friend who was looking at an ATV, I was looking at a Roadliner, and a Kingpin tour. Even though they knew I wasn't looking to buy, they sent me out on both bikes to compare. Then to show the potential, the owner of the dealer let take out his hot-rodded Victory. What a rush! |

we must have goofy liability laws in WI - generally they say "no" to test rides unless they really want to push the product. Like the Bombardier Can - Am.

Do all the paperwork, everything but the last signature, than tell the salesman that without a test ride you are going to walk. Be prepared to go out the door & Waite a couple of days for them to call. You have nothing to lose but a couple of days, because you can always go back and take the bike at a later date.
