Just curious to get some feedback on what a good strategy is to walk into a dealership with. So let's say I walk into the dealer and offer them $8000 for a bike that lists at $8500. OR, I offer him MSRP and ask them to throw in $750 (give or take) worth of gear. Not sure what the margins are on such things, but it seems like the latter deal would be better for both of us (i.e., I get $750 worth of gear for $500, he's out cost rather than $500, assuming that cost of the gear is less than $500)? Between sales commission, margins on gear, etc., I have no idea how that equation works out. Anyone ever try that? Does it matter? |
