Default '96 RM250 cold start/flooding

New guy here, so I appologize if I'm not in the right place to post this...but here it is:

'96 RM250 fresh top end...was running great, then one day I start it, rev it a few times & it shuts down like it flooded out. I eventually get it to start by cleaning the plug, roll through to 3rd gear & it dies again. Few days later I start it in 3-4 kicks & ride for an hour. Two hours later, same crap. I adjusted the float & cleaned out the carb with no positive results. I now have a broken clutch lever as well from kicking my bike over in frustration.

Any ideas????
