This just came in the mail today: ![]() I requested it something like 6-8 weeks ago after I saw a post about it on ADVRider. I didn't see anything about it on here so I thought I'd share. You can request the "brochure", which is 460 pages long, from National Scenic Byways Online. It looks like they ship it for free to anyone in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Each scenic highway is shown on both an overall map of the region and in a smaller, slightly more detailed map next to the description. The maps basically give the route name/number of the highway itself and some of the major towns and routes in the area; it is not a substitution for a more detailed map or GPS. In the description is an overview of some of the sights and attractions along the highway. For many parks, attractions, etc. along the highway, phone numbers, days/season of operation, and/or websites are included; again, it is not a substitute for detailed brochures and websites about each attraction. Overall, I think the book is a really good value (free) and is a great tool to help plan a destination/route for your motorcycle or car trip in the US. Being that it is free, don't expect predictable shipping; on the ADVRider thread, people are reporting shipping times anywhere from <2 weeks to >2 months regardless of when it was ordered. |
