Default Financial analysis of 1 month of bike ownership.

I bought a 2008 C50 on June 1st as a primary vehicle. I and my wife made the decision after crunching out some numbers that really looked like we could save a good deal of gas money.

So for the month of June:
Payment: $120
Insurance: $31
Gas: $62
Total: $213

I didn't include routine maintenance in that figure because I bought a reasonable service plan with the bike that is included in the monthly payment.

In May, I put right at $460 in gas in my truck compared to only $40 in June. I think I only even cranked it twice. Even if you count the $50 I had to spend for a new rear tire, $213 + $40 in gas for the truck + $50 for the tire it comes out to $303. I still saved $150. Before I bought the bike I was figuring on saving about $100 a month, but it looks a lot better than I thought.

I should have bought a bike a long time ago.
