Default Test drove the...................

Tonight after work I had an itch to go and sit on some sport bikes at our local Honda dealer. Just looking, curious as to what a used 600R might go for. Anyway, I pulled up to the dealer, dogeared and there was a salesman out front sitting on a Spyder. Out of curiosity I looked at it closely and the sales dude began his spiel then asked if I wanted a test drive. H-E-DOUBLE TOOTHPICKS yeah I do. So we go inside, show my license sign some papers and I tell a few lies as to what a fantastic rider I am.

So here is the basic deal. It has abs all around, no rh brake lever, all brakes are activated by rh foot control. 106 hp 5 speed + rev. So I gear up, [sales dude tells me no speeding or passing him] pfffffftttt, what ya gonna do throw me in mc jail?? We take of on hwy 23 with a speed limit of 65. Happily he is doing 85 with me right on his tail, this baby really is snappy all the way up to 8K. I found out very quickly that this is not an mc, and does not handle like an mc. We made a turn, where is that frickin' front lever, oh yeah don't have one. Lean dude, oh yeah it only turns.

I did not really enjoy the ride too much although it was interesting. At high speeds it tends to wander a tad more than I cared for. The sales dude said this was due to the power steering and that I was moving the bars. No I wasn't, it was wandering. At 85 you basically are have your face square in the wind, lots of buffeting. Maybe this was the cause of the wandering, I am getting beat up and moving the bars as I get pounded. I have to admit that it is a torque little bastage. Decent power all through the gear range, good torque low and high.

For the Spyder to be a decent seller it really should have more stow capacity. I cannot see this "trike" competing with the likes of regular mc's, rather being ridden by ma or pa as a grocery getter. Put a shield on it, some bags, trunk, etc.. and it would most likely be a hit. Well, maybe not the mpg was rated at 30 city and 35 hwy. My 1500 does better than that, is more fun to ride and I can stow a 12 pack in each saddle bag.

So there ya have it folks...

Dang, almost forgot the most important part of my little excursion. After getting off the Spyder and taking off my gear this super hot chick pulls up on a Shadow. She is sporting a super tight pink, semi-transparent top. So, Vinnie wanders around the used bike section panting pretty much drooling all over the newly cleaned used bikes. I know I am married but blinders just don't fit my style.

There's one of those damn things rippin' arround here. I don't care what anybody thinks about it...its dumb. It's a road going snowmobile, and even less use. And trust me...in my part of the country I know snowmobiles!

And and and...! If you are really into this CanAm Spyder, i'm sorry, but IMO you're not a biker...you're a miata owner with a helmet ... and poor judgment.

Something about it actually offends me......and i'm not really sure why. Kinda like it's laughing in the face of a biker lifestyle.

BAH! I HATE IT! I'M SO FULL OF RAAAAGE!

Yeah, your right. It would have been more appropriate to call you Adam.

I like the Can-Am. But not for the motorcycle experience. I was leaning (well on that I hear you don't lean) towards the aspect of riding it like a Vette.

But on the same token I have been pricing Vettes from around the '97 to '01 range and I can almost buy one for that and get the better experience. So I have now passed on the Can-Am and with reviews like this makes it even easier to look elsewhere.

I swear to god, we think so much alike it's friggin' scary. Right down to the damn 'Vette man.

But you'd ride your sled on the road during a snowstorm if you could, right?

How come it is that they always have test rides on stuff that you don't want, I'll bet he didn't have a new 600R for you to take out.

It took me three days to talk my local dealer into letting me test ride a new Bandit, and I've bought 3 bikes from him.

I can picture you drooling over the hot chick, every time we stopped somewhere last week you seemed to find some cutie to chat-up.

Next time call your ridding buddies for crying out loud.
