| Meat, you're going to have to make a trip up to Minnesota sometimes...I think it might change your opinion on "yanks". I once stayed with a host family in Florida for awhile when I was in college. The mother used to laugh about how much I said "thank you". She used to say, "That girl would thank me for the sky being blue!" Also, as far as not helping people. I don't agree with that at all. I believe in "Karma", or "the golden rule", or "what comes around goes around"...whatever you want to call it. Here is a story that illustrates this: I was on a bus going home...a lady on the same bus was talking with the driver asking if he went to a certain hotel. He didn't. He didn't go anywhere near it. When she came back to her seat, looking defeated, I told her that I could give her a ride to the hotel if she would like. It seemed to help her out a lot. A few weeks later, I had gone home early from work because I was sick. I was on the bus and fell asleep for a little bit. I woke up and didn't know where I was. I walked up to the driver and found out I had gotten on the wrong bus. I was broke...really broke. The only money I had was the $1.50 I needed for the bus. My roommate was out of town, so I had no one to call. As I was walking back to my seat (also defeated), a nice lady said that she had to go to my area to bring her daughter someplace and would give me a ride... ...Yanks care too!!!

| Oooopsie!! I let my big, southern mouth run away, and I have to apologize. I did exactly what SFAZ did: I lumped 1/3 of my country's population in to a single, shameful paradigm. I apologize. I shouldn't have done that. Even though my general impression still stands, I'm sure folks also have the general impression that we are all rednecks. It only takes one bad apple to spoil the barrel, so they say. Just like the 'southern' stereotype isn't fair to me, I guess the 'northern' stereotype isn't fair to my friends from the upper latitudes. I wasn't thinking, and I spouted off, mainly at SFAZ's generalization that we're all rednecks, and I was wrong for that. Come to think of it . . . had I thought before posting, I wouldn't have said any of it. The most exposure I've had to northerners has been in forums, and I can't really tell who's from where unless I look at the signature block, so my generalization is embarrassing to say the least. I'm going to apologize once more (sincere apologies for making a broad generalization that is not fair to my fellow forum members), then I'll crawl back into my double wide and watch some rass-ling, while I whittle my toenails. <i am sooooo sorry.

I never thought you guys were mad at me, I was just embarrassed at having allowed myself to post something so stereotypical like that.
