| Riding home from work yesterday, I noticed a nice, custom, Harley race by me along the way. He was really reving up the engine while blowing by people and I could see everyone getting annoyed by his loud, abnoxious, pipes. Minutes later, traffic comes to a halt for a while. As it picks up again, I see the same Harley pulled to shoulder while he tries to re-start his bike. I could have seen the smirks on the motorists' faces as they drove by him! He didn't seem embarassed, but he sure did look foolish! Just wanted to share this story......Its a lesson learned to these "show-offs". I admit, his bike was very nice.....but the "bazooka" pipes and purposely reving his engine - he deserved what came to him. |

| Muscle Biker ![]() | I was SHOCKED when I was in California last year how loud the bikes are. I mentioned back then about the totally blinged out Harley touring bikes with loud pipes and an even louder sound system pumping out rap music. Over here, the laws are very, very strict. No street bike may be louder than 90 dbA (maximum) or the value printed on your VIN plate. You can put a different muffler on the bike, but this must be approved for use for your bike model (which means, it's been tested and doesn't exceed the maximum noise level). Here's the VIN plate from my bike - as you can see, my bike can't be louder than 88 db(A) at 3,400 rpm. If it is, the bike is no longer "street legal" and can be taken out of service by the man.

| Yeah I know, inspiron.... those gas-guzzlers are so loud and I hate them. I wish we had the same rule on bikes over here that you all do over there. Course... no one really obeys many laws around here anyways.
