Unhappy Mourning the loss of a fellow newcomer to motorcycling...

A man was killed Tuesday morning at 6:45 AM. He had only been riding for 2 months and apparently a car didn't see him and pulled out in front of him on a 55mph country road near my house. Though he was wearing full gear, he didn't come off his bike and died pretty much on impact with the vehicle. He was 36 years old (his birthday is today) and leaves behind a wife and children. Hopefully we can all take a minute in order to mourn the loss of a fellow man and a fellow enthusiast.

I never had the pleasure of meeting you, but Rest in Peace.

That is so sad, condolences to both parties. Don't let it dampen your enthusiasm to ride. It will be a reminder for you to be extra careful on your bike.

My deepest symapathy to all......truely sad and not warranted. Mistakes do happen (thats why they're called mistakes) but still, wish there could have been an alternate ending to this trajedy.
Lets hope we can all take away the lesson to ALWAYS be vigilant when riding - as much as a motorcyclist OR motorist.

As much as its troubling, keep your head up and keep doing what you love to do.

RIDE SAFE.

Truly sorry for all involved, but just wanted to comment that bikes in and of themselves are not dangerous, they are an inanimate object.

So sorry to hear that, 08-M50. Truly a tragedy for all involved.

I recall you saying in another thread that you're engaged to be married. I'm sure my opinion won't be seconded by many here, but when that time comes that you and the wife decide to make a family together, you should probably consider not riding for a while. Things do happen, regardless of our skill or careful attention. I'm willing to take that risk now that my kids are old enough to get by without me, but I personally don't think it's fair to your wife to ask her to take that same risk when there are small children involved. Something for you to consider when that day comes.

I'm so sorry as well. While it inspires me to be as vigilant and aware as I possibly can be, it's a reminder that's it not all up to us. I won't stop riding, because it gives me so much joy, feels like a part of me, but you can bet I'll never let up in my efforts to ride as safely as is possible.
