Talking There's a New VMax in the House

On Friday afternoon I bought an '05 Anniversary Edition Vmax. It was a one owner (retired guy), 9700 km's, in mint condition. Only had a chance to put on 100 k's or so, but first impression is WOW!
This bike has totally surpassed my expectations.
I loved the handling and styling of my M50, but when in a playful mood, found myself longing for more of a thrill.
The Max more than delivers. Even keeping the rev's below 6000 RPM's (the point when VBoost kicks in), this bike is thrilling. My cheeks are sore from the ear to ear grin. I'll admit that seeing the M go to a good home was a sad day, but the experience of owning a VMax has made the transition easier to bear.
I'll keep you posted on feedback as I get more seat time.
Cheers, Atlas.

How you could bring yourself to own such a turd, I'll never know?

J/K man.... Congrats, enjoy, and be careful the first few hundred miles. Get to know the bike for a while. Then rip and roll!

Thanks all.
I've always thought the Max exudes a true musclebike look, a cruiser on the juice shall we say. I've always loved the look and the power.

I can't believe my ears that some here fail to see, what has virtualy remained unchanged for 22 years and has garnered a cult following in the process, a finely tuned aesthetic marvel.
Sheesh...If your wife looked the same today as she did 22 years ago, you'd be parading her around for the world to see!

Good thing there's a bike for everyone. Remember gents, (so they say), the ugly ones aim to please...and this bike put's out 'til I can't take no more.

congrats, I considered buying one, then realized the amount of raw unmitigated power would be too much temptation at all the wrong times.

The bike magazines call the v max "like an alligator, unchanged over time and eats anything that gets in its way."

I had one for 5 years and they are fun to say the least. Go easy, they can get away from you with out too much problem. One thing I want to warn you about is a hard shift at about 70 mph into third. The front will pop up and when it comes back down you will get a wild wobble. It comes from the frame twisting.
And never extend your hand over the throttle to get a full hand on it. You will have the ride of your life. It will be a balance between burning the tire and keeping the front end down. Don't ask how I know. :
I've said in the past, nothing scares me much but that Mr Max did a bunch.

I'm constantly surprised that a Shaft driven bike could be such an ANIMAL! I always asume that the lunatic fringe would be riden on a chain drive?

< Now i'm doubting myself, it is a shaft drive right?>

You sir, are correct. Although a popular mod for this bike is a chain conversion, as if the rear wheel needs any more HP.

LOL Bob. Thankfully I can laugh at a statement such as this. And regards the coffee, I'm sure with interest I'm on the hook for the full TH combo.

Hey Jayhawk! Good on you! Fill out your profile. Where's home?
Evidently we're in the minority here. We've got work to do my friend.

the real advantage of the chain drive, besides less power loss is torque.

Under hard acceleration, the rear of the bike will actually lift from the rotational torque from the drive shaft. Or something like that.

Knew a guy in college who had a 750 Yamaha Seca. Under hard acceleration the rear tire would actually fishtail. It was a pretty scary sight to see.
