But in Maine, that's about all they have to do, specially in my rural neck of the woods. If it weren't for speeders, the cops would go bonkers for lack of work! As it is, they all drive around, talking to each other on their cell phones.

Amen.

By the way, I agree with your post, I just had to comment on the speeding thing...

i've always worn gear...i think thats what sets me off against everyone else. I mean wearing the matching jacket just makes me look like I know what I'm doing, along with the matching helmet, gold visor and gloves. It kinda says, this guy is serious.

Yea soad, I see where you are comming from. It's naive to think that someone will listen to you if you ask them to wear gear. Chances are excellent the rider in question knows about the existence of gear, so you won't be bringing up new territory with anyone. My gene pool comment was a joke of course, but I'm not joking when I say I don't care terribly when someone gets hurt stunting around. Especially on a public road. And if someone chooses to not wear a helmet at speeds faster than they can run, well, not wearing a helmet is the sign of a person with a deathwish.

Gear is clothing and government will never be able to regulate that - thank God!

You'd better call OSHA and tell them . . . they've been regulating clothing for 30+ years!!

what is OSHA?

anywho, gov. cannot tell you what choice of clothes you must wear, unless it's some kind of professional clothing (military etc.)

Glad you qualified your statement, 007. I'm pretty sure the military types (myself included) would have, er... disagreed... with you in some form, or other.

As for OSHA: I'm sure ThemeatmanLandry can fill you in. I grew up with NAVOSH.

Yep, Any time I go near a construction site for my job, I have a long list of things I have to wear (and not wear). I've done everything from safety harnesses climbing towers, to tyvek dork suits, to a full-face respirator. But the minimum is ALWAYS steel-toed boots, and a hard hat, and usually safety glasses. But nothing - NOTHING- protects you from the greatest construction site hazard. That would be the construction workers! Though I have to say, showing up on the motorcycle seems to really tone them down a lot, for some reason!!!!!

Yes. Yes, I can. Riding a motorcycle teaches you to mave fast, be stealthy, and fight dirty, when necessary. And to prepare for every contingency.

But I have sidetracked the topic. I know that is something that is just not done here!

Yes, for everyone except "Uncle" Bob. It's always the uncle . . . isn't it?

Uncle Bob moderates in the nude, right?

(now I have to go try and shake that image out of my head)
