Default speakers vs. helmet speakers

I've been riding for a year and am considering adding speakers for an MP3or satelite radio to my bike. I would like some opinions on the idea, and if it's a good one, opinions on bike mounted vs. a helmet setup.

Don't know if it matters to you, but installing helmet speakers voids the warranty on my helmet.

Thanks, I'll check into that. As an experiment I threaded some earpods behind the helmet lining and let them rest close to the foam by the ear. Works pretty well but don't know if it is the best long term solution.

I went on ebay and bought some helmet speakers. they work but not overly loud and if you get allot of air under your helmet when riding they are virtually useless. Also, after about 45 minutes they start to make your ears sore. One other thing to consider.. is your helmet really tight on your head? If so its even more a pain in the butt putting on and taking off helmets with speakers.. I am referring to the detachable style speakers.

The baggers going past my house with their speakers blazing are more annoying than the straight pipe guys. My house is about 1/4 miles off the road.

There are lots of Bluetooth setups that work quite well on a bike. I'm planning on getting one of them and using it with my Zumo 550. Sorry, but I can't give you a link, because I'm on the wrong computer, and it's not on this one.

Annoying or not I love my tunes on my bagger. Hoppe is now making fairing for these C50's and C90's. Hoppe Designs

Home

I got my speakers here and absolutely love them.

I will take bike mounted any day of the week of helmet mounted. I have done both and will never go back to helmet speakers!

I have front and rear speakers, and the helmet headset for intercom/music on my Venture. I prefer the speakers and pretty much use the headset only on longer trips with a passenger. The music sounds better thru the speakers. I'm normally considerate of others with the volume of the speakers.
