Default Cycling etiquette

We are all familiar with giving the hand wave when you encounter another biker as you pass each other. I'm wondering if there is any standard procedure to use when another biker pulls behind you as you are riding down the road. I was out riding today and another biker showed up in my rear view mirror and followed me for about 6 or 7 miles before turning off on a road. I had hoped he would stay behind me another half mile because I had plans to pull into a gas station up ahead to fill my tank and was thinking he might follow me in so we could hook up and compare notes.

I've had this happen a number of times and it got me wondering if there was some sort of universal code, similar to the hand wave, that bikers do when they see another biker falling in behind them.
