| Let me get this straight.............. This thread deals with "Law" and "Religion" as far as the Religion is concerned it's not motorcycle related unless you pray to the Motorcycle God. The law part, now this has to do with the politicians, and anytime politicians get involved it makes it a "Political Thread". Thats a "NO NO" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

| Muscle Biker ![]() | I've just started reading the book "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins. In the first chapter, he discussed exactly this issue - that when religion is involved, it usually has the trump card. If you say, "I refuse to wear a helmet because it gives me a headache", you'll lose your case. If you say, "I refuse to wear a helmet for religious reasons", most judges will accept the argument, since to question someone's religious beliefs is simply not socially acceptable.

| 23 posts and on one has brought up a critical point. This turban does it have a chin strap, will it stay on his head at speed, can it unravel? If it comes off or unravels the it becomes a hazard not only to the rider but to others as well.

| You guys can argue all you want about the rights and wrongs of helmet laws . . . or the rights of a person to express religious views . . . or the rights ofthe state to force people to do things that "they" feel are correct . . . you're all missing the point. What we have here is a blossoming opportunity to make some fast cash. I'm going into the R&D lab to develop the world's first and only SNELL-rated, DOT-approved, Turban Half-Face. Y'all can sit and %%%%% all you want . . . I'm pulling a patent and making some money!! [On a serious note] Who cares what this guy wants to put on his head when he rides? I certainly don't. IMO the gov't has NO BUSINESS telling any of us anything. They'll screw up a wet dream, yet people feel that they have the right to mandate what the masses should do to protect themselves? GMAFB. "Boohoo, we have to pay for the injuries." Again, who cares? It's dude's head. We're already paying for so many ridiculous things, will we really feel the impact of a few vegetables on our annual tax bill? No. May as well let them wear towels on their heads as they skid into comaland. At least there'll be one less idiot on the street for the ride home.

| You guys got it all wrong. He wants to wear a TURBINE on his head! Some guys will do anything for more speed. Personally, I think there may be a noise issue with such a device. B-Rex |

Where can I buy some stock in this new venture of yours. On a similar note, a buddy of mine told me the other day that he's going to start a new "religion", he's planing on calling it "Smokers". His idea is to claim that in the Smokers religion, you have to smoke in order to get to Heaven, than he is going to go on the Internet and ask all of the millions of smokers in world to each contribute $1 to his cause to fight against smoking bans. He figures to be an overnight millionaire, than dis ban the religion. Now, as stupid as this sounds, it's something that could actually work, and to my way of thinking, it's just one of the many reasons why special interest groups should not get special privilege's.

| I've often wondered when the drug users will get smart and claim it's a religious thing. That would make drugs untaxable, and the drug laws could be appealed all the way to the Supreme Court on the basis of freedom of religion.

| That's been tried many times. In some cases it works.

| Don't forget the ONE successful religious/drug organization: The American Indian Church Legally enjoying the benefits of Peyote (mescaline) for over 100 yrs. Much to the continued chagrin of the US Drug Police. B-Rex |

| Let the guy wear his turbin instead of a helmet while riding, BUT have a rule in place that if involved in a accident his fault or otherwise he would not be covered for any injuries to himself only covered for the other driver/rider`s injuries, on the premis that he has not taken sufficiant precautions to prevent head injuries. As the law where he lives says you must ride with a helmet. I personaly would want to protect my head, face with one in the event of a spill. Well thats my rant for the day.

| Where Am I ? | Years ago when I lived in England there was an Indian who rode a moped to work. He didnt obey the helmet law. After several fines he went to court to protest that it was his religion to wear a turban. Long story short, he won the case.Typical aint it foreigners can get away with anything if they plead ITS MY RELIGION.
