| Has anyone had any experience riding with the Kevlar pant liners or other abrasion-resisting pants? Can you compare them to Kevlar reinforced jeans? How well do these kind of pants work during an asphalt skin removal procedure? The discussion on the chaps reminded me that I was looking at those things trying to decide if they would be better, as good, worse or "no comparison" to "Draggin' Jeans" et al. Before I invest a couple hundred dollars in long underwear that might be unwearable, I'd appreciate some input. To me, they look really hot (uncomfortable...not the other kind of "hot"). Furthermore, since Kevlar doesn't stretch, I wonder about...er..."binding". Finding a good, comfortable pair of abrasion-resistant pants for long rides during the summer is not as easy as I thought it would be. (Oh, by the way...the "panty liner" thing in the title line was purely jocular...so to speak) B-Rex Last edited by B-Rex; 03-14-2008 at 01:37 AM. |

| I still prefer overpants. Jeans are poor when wet, so even a sprinkle can ruin your day. I wear underarmor or running shorts under them in the summer. Mine have a band that wraps around the upper half and zips off for hot weather. You could also go with mesh.

| I've looked at the mesh (Icon, FieldSheer etc.)...the problem is that I haven't a clue as to whose particular proprietary "brand" of mesh is better. FieldSheer has a Kevlar/Titanium "summer" mesh...at least titanium is in the name...which sounds good...but I have no experience with any of them. Have you tried some of the mesh? It would be nice to be able to wear shorts under an easily removable mesh overpant. Actually sounds like the way to go if it would work. B-Rex |

| I've got a set of Draggin' Jeans. They're great to wear in cold weather. Sadly, they sit unused for most part of the year though. Even in the winter. When you get where you are going. The extra padding acts as insulation and quickly heats you up once indoors.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. Even my FieldSheer heavily-vented, armored jacket becomes a sauna if I sit at a stoplight for more than a minute or two. That's kind of why the mesh sounds great for summer. It just sucks trying to get information on which performs best. Even Google isn't working too well to research it. Blehh! B-Rex | |

| I've got a Joe Rocket Phoenix 2.0 jacket. I use it during the summer on 100 days....it is awesome. It's actually cooler than going without a jacket because the mesh provides shade for the skin.

| I own and always use the draggin jeans. Yup they are warm in the summer, but I have had minor road rash and accept the trade off. I do not wear the armor pads in the jeans. It can be positioned to be comfortable when it the ride position but any other time it is definitely in the way. I own and have worn the kevlar long sleeved t-shirt, also with armor thru the last 2 summers. Took the armor out last summer, but being black dyed it was still pretty warm. I just bought a tourmaster draft-air jacket, also with armor which seems indoors like it may be cooler but haven't had any warm to hot weather yet so can't really say anything yet.

| If you mean the armor pads, let me state that they are INSTALLED into the jeans using the velcro strips attached to the pads by the rider to fit. The strips of velcro are designed to latch onto the kevlar material which encircles the knee area. Does this clarify or confuse ?
