Yeah I want another dirt bike.
KLR650 really can't be compared to a 250 MX. 250 is probably more powerful, or atleast a better power/weight ratio. I could be very wrong, but the Meanie would get my nod knuckle dragging over an KLR.

Well I love "M" and If I could keep her and get another bike I would. THe second bike would be a dirt bike but I just can't justify having two bikes at this time. Plus I'd have to get a trailer to haul it around.

My personal expectations of the KLR are based on all the other Dual Sports I have owned the largest of which has been the Yamaha XT 350. I have no delusions that it will or could be compaired to how "M" preforms.

And as for the 250 I rode, I have never been on a 4 stroke that accelerated like that and I don't expect that the KLR will be that quick on the throttle.

You should try the 450 sometime.

To be clear. The Miata (95 R) is an autocross toy. The more powerful car is a daily driver. I have way more vehicles in my name than some one with my income/debt ratio deserves.
How can you have fun with twisties in Tucson? The top speed is about 30 on the roads and that's when the folks drive their cars instead of their golf carts lol.....Drives me nuts when I go down there. Nice wide winding roads clogged with people driving 15 miles below the speed limit...

All you have to do is loan me one.

It funny, I would be very hesitant to get on an R rated sport bike but dirt bikes don't draw the same kind of apprehension.

In a year? Close. Summer months are $150+ easy. And we have longer summers here.

Finally decided to do assuage my curiosity.

KLR
2008 Kawasaki KLR650 Stats - Motorcyclist Magazine

Stats for the KLR show it couldn't out drag my SRT-4.

Meanie
2007 Kawasaki Mean Streak Special Edition - Motorcycle Cruiser Magazine

More than a full second quicker.

37 hp, that doesn't sound like alot.

But I imagine the bikes isn't very heavy, either.

The price also sounds very close to the v strom range too.

Deal in the works. I'll know more later today.

They will give me $7,500 for "M" and sell me the KLR for $5,000. I'd like to get more for "M" but no luck in the past so I can live with the depreciation.

Now I need to decide... Red or Green...

Be loyal. Go Green, you don't want it to be mistaken for a Honda do you?

KLR 650 had cam chain tensioner issues (I think that's what it was) Do the research on that, because Kawasaki KNEW that that bike had problems but NEVER fixed it AFAIK. My friend had one, and damn near blew it up before getting an aftermarket part to fix it.

It was all the years up to like 2004. MAYBE Kawasaki fixed it, but I doubt it.

It is the "doohickey" - idler shaft lever. Follow the link below:

MarkNet - KLR650 : Doohickey Replacement (Idler Shaft Lever)

My friends bike was almost brand new, and it had a busted "doohickey".
