We need to mobilize. It's been an unacceptable amount of time since we've last heard from her.

My first inclination is that we need someone over there that can be trusted to do good work and not turn this into a game. We obviously don't have any regular Japanese members here anymore, so we're going to have to look outside.

Question: Is anyone a member of another forum with active Japanese national members?

If so, that's a start.

Not knowing the girl's real name is a real pain.

Another option is to go out and troll a Japanese-dominated forum and try to gain confidence there.

Again, not knowing her real name is a MAJOR sticking point. Her bikes and face would be recognizable, but I don't know of any internet milk cartons that we can paste her to.

More thought is required . . .

Why not trying to email Samurai...since he is also in Japan...it might be easier for him to look her up?

Been there Bill.

He's equally at a loss as we are.

Some were mentioned earlier in the thread. I think they've all been tried.

Some of the folks that are a little closer to her have revealed to me that they are actively addressing this issue.

I think that the rest of us should just post our thoughts and bide our time.

She'll be back.

Reading through this thread gets me a little sick. It's a shame we can't have some kind of update to know what may have happened.

I wonder if we will ever know.

Hopefully you guys who know her well have a plan.
Just to know she's in good health would be a start!

Yeah it's always odd when somebody who posts so often just "disappears". Did anyone know her personally here?

I know little to nothing of Japanese culture cept what I have seen on the T.V. My first thought was that maybe she is stretched too thin, work and moderating, and needed to free up some time so MJ hits the skids. Possibly to save embarrassment she bailed without a word. If I am wrong I will most definitely make apologies to Kay for this assumption and if I am right I would much prefer to have her here as a regular Joette as opposed to moderating. Anything is better than her absence. I miss her input, experience and general good attitude.

Wherever you are Kay your are greatly missed!!!

A reasonable assumption, under some circumstances, but I get the impression that most of us here feel that would NEVER happen in this case.
Thus, the concern.

Yeah, I know. Just trying to make sense of the whole thing, thus my assumptions.

I really don't know Kay and have seen maybe a dozen or so posts by her. But I've been a member in other forums where this sort of thing happens frequently for one reason or another. Which, then brings me to my point, to wit:

Has anyone thought of, or does there already exist, a "trusted" member who maintains a contact database?

I'm very private online for obvious reasons so I understand the need for anonymity....and it's even more important for a woman...but, at the same time, I would be OK with leaving contact info where it would be guaranteed to be private. If such a database was established, it could help relieve the angst of other members as well provide a means to get assistance to a member who needs it. Obviously, it would have to be carefully maintained with extremely limited access.

Just a thought for the future. Maybe it's not practical here, I don't know.

I've disappeared twice. My reason was insane work load. I've never been the type to load up the forums at home since I have a lot to do at home and when I'm done w/ kids and their sports and homework, etc I will jump on my World of Warcraft game for a bit. Just never had the time to jump back and forth to the forums. I save the forums for killing time at work.

We missed it. When? Just now. When will then be now? Soon.
