Default What mods have you done this winter?

I have done quite a few mods this winter and some still in the works. Kurykyan convex mirrors, ISO grips/stiletto end caps, Suzuki boulevard light bar, G-tank, new and improved fork caps, drivers back rest. Did I miss anything? It's too cold to finish any work today and it is almost my nap time. Maybe tomorrow?

I ran the fork caps today 2"RD 308SS. Still have more polishing to do to the bores. That's the fun part.

Well, I'm currently "mid-modification" and won't be done until, probably next month.

For my B-king I have arranged for:

1) A 12 volt electrical "accessory" socket for the handlebars (radar detector, FRS-GMRS, etc).
2) Arranged for a Garmin-approved installation of my Zumo GPS (you lose the warranty if a dealer/certified mechanic doesn't do the electrical install).
3) XM radio subscription.
4) Ordered a "gi-pro" gear-position-indicator with switchable TRE.
5) Awaiting dealer's order of a K&N breather filter replacement.

Pending-until-located:
1) Micron carbon fiber replacement exhaust cans
2) PCIII with "Bee" specific mapping.
3) Aftermarket airbox ram fins

I don't even want to discuss the massive hole in my wallet this stuff is causing. Gawwwwd!

I am considering trying these in place of my reflectors on my bags and forks. They are led.

I haven't done anything yet, the bike is in storage at the dealers warehouse. They give a discount on parts and labor while in storage so I better get going on this pretty soon. I'm not sure what I'll do myself and what I'll have them do for me, but the following needs to get done before I go on any extended rides.

Things to do:
  • New Corbin seat
  • Replace mirrors with Napoleon bar end mirrors
  • Replace factory crash guard with something better
  • Put on compass (I keep getting lost)
  • Add driving lights

I think the only thing i'm going to get for my cycle are saddle bags and a tank bag maybe.. other than that maybe some new oil? I'll get new tires when i can travel the 1 mile to the stealership so they can put them on...

Yoshimira carbon fiber pipes for the gsxr. thinking about upgrading headlight, and taking off the tail that holds the license plate and putting in a custom holder.

Finished up the light bar today. I am curious what idiot hires dopes to write installation instructions. The light bar indicated to put the "marked" wire at the top of this "T" connector and put the "unmarked" wire in the leg of the "T". Well, both wires have tape, one orange, one white, so which one is marked? I knew I had a 50/50 shot at getting it right the 1st time. Nope, fuse blown. Now I know what is the meaning of the "marked" wire.

I have a Joe Rocket tank bag, TourMaster Cruiser II XL saddlebags. I'll order a driver's backrest from Lonnie next week.

If you would have contacted me on the marked wire question I could have helped you. I am psychic. It will always be the wire you don't choose.

Mostly been doing rehab on my shoulder, and letting the broken bones heal up. The last couple weeks I have started putting the old shovelhead back together. It was bent up pretty good, but the frame is not damaged, so no worries. And while it was down anyways, and some of the parts were on back order, I decided to do some mods.

The motor get a new Andrews cam and a Crane adjustable electronic ignition, plus maintenance items like plugs and plug wires. I modified the front highway bar into a hidden oil cooler, which increased the oil capacity by over a quart and drops the operating temp about 40 degrees. Stainless steel oil lines completed the system.

A new Pingle high-flow petcock was added to the left tank, and the right tank was replaced. Stainless fuel lines were added, both to the carb and to connect the two tanks.

New Dunlop tires were fitted, along with a new rear master cylinder and extended brake pedal. The floorboards were replaced, and no I have to decide if I want to paint the new front fender and right side tank white to match, or remove the rest of the tins and do a color change...

Yes, it works well on quite a few street bikes. It can significantly improve horsepower and torque, especially when combined with modifications to the exhaust and air intake.

That being said, on some bikes the increased power can make the bike more difficult to control. Things like unexpected wheelies and loss of rear tire traction can result. You have to give some thought to whether or not you truly need or even want those changes. Especially considering the cost.

Sometimes you're better off spending the money on appropriate boots and other riding gear.

Yea your right. i just wanted to get the true performance out the exhaust system. but i still want a smooth riding bike. i dont kno if i need unexpected wheelies its already hard enough to stop the 1000 from activiating it's power wheelie in first gear
