Default Key West trip report

I don't know where this needs to go or if anyone even cares to read it but here goes;

My buddy with a motorhome took our bikes with him and went to Lakeland, FL. I flew down on Thursday 2/21/08 and spent the first night there. Friday morning we got up, loaded the bikes and took the back roads down through Alligator Alley (Everglades National Park), winding up in Key Largo for two nights. It was just getting dark when we got there so just a quick shower, dinner and off to the Caribbean Club (they boast that some of the movie “Key Largo” with Humphrey Bogart was shot there).

Seeing as how Miami’s South Beach was less than a hundred miles away, we couldn’t resist spending a Saturday day there. That is one nice place to be if you like to look at the beautiful people. BTW, the temperature record was broken at 90 degrees that day. That ain’t bad for late February is it?

Then it was back to the motel to witness a beautiful sunset. Out to dinner and back to the Caribbean Club.

On Sunday we loaded up the bikes and headed on down the Keys to Key West. Of course we had to stop at No Name Pub on the way. One of those pesky Key deer darted across in front of us but we were only about 25MPH and didn’t get a scare out of it.

And there was the 7 mile bridge to get across.

We hit Key West Sunday afternoon and parked the bikes and didn’t move them until we loaded up to come back up hwy. 1.

There was lots of partying for the next 3 days that I won’t bore you with. But I will tell you that Key West is a party town. We got back to our rooms at 6AM, 4AM and 2AM respectfully.

Wednesday we headed back, there was a cold front that passed so it was windy and cool but not unbearable. We made it back up to Ft. Myers for Wednesday night. Thursday it was back to Lakeland.

Friday we moved the motorhome over to Daytona for Bikeweek. We spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday taking in the events at Bikeweek. Some of the highlights are the HOG event downtown, Destination Daytona, and the more famous bars around town.

Thanks everyone, and sorry Geoff. If you guys are going to twist my arm off I'll post a couple more pics. I'm trying to keep it "work safe" tho. The first is Key Largo and the others are Bikeweek

I'll have to explain this one to Chriszuki.............

I was getting worried about you Jerry, but those last pictures proves there is a "little" life left in you yet.

Excellent photos!

You succeeded in making me very homesick.

By the way...regarding the very first two photos you posted...I had no idea my ex was still in Florida. How did you get her to pose nude?

I never could get her to do that in 5 years. Go figure?

Yeah, that's at the Cabbage Patch during Daytona Bikeweek. You've still got time to get down there for the last weekend of it.
