My wife is Ok with me riding, because she sees what a stress reliever it is for me. But she has no interest whatsoever in riding! I bought her a helmet and jacket last year that just sits in the closet. I keep saying I'm going to sell them, but I keep hoping she'll ride one of these days, or either I'll find a girlfriend that they'll fit (yeah, right!)
When my wife was in her teens, she rode with her uncle one time and he scared her on it and that was it for her, and he sure ruined it for me.
She's "Miss Super Cautious Conservative" anyway about EVERYTHING!
Couldn't get her to parasail or jet ski when we've been down in the Carribean either.
"I'll just watch you" she says. Oh well, it could be worse, I have a buddy who's been begging for a bike for years and his wife says over her dead body! I couldn't deal with that.

My wife was really nasty about my buying a bike, too. I asked her if she was coming along, and she said she didn't want anything to do with it. I told her that when I come home with a $23,000 Ultra, she will wish she came along. I had to wait for my new C90T to be put together. I was standing there when my cell phone rang. It was my wife. She said, "Tom, you were only joking when you said $23,000, weren't you?" I replied, "Yes, but I am spending $10,000." She hung up a little happier.

Mne is fine with it. Granted I rode when we got together and told her outright that if she ever told me I couldnt ride that I would leave her. I love her to death but I rode before we got together and NO woman will change that.

If I stop riding it will be my choice or because i'm not physically capable.

However to the ones that started riding after you were together I can see how it might take some convincing.

Oh...now I'm double posting! (Sorry Clint!)

Funny...but I don't have anything that's pink. In fact, I prefer either black or red, but I do have other colors, like blue, yellow...but nothing in pink.

The only thing my wife hates about motorcycles is the fact that she doesn't have one yet. She never stops me from riding.

What are some techniques you have used to persuade the in your relationship to see right side? Is there any advice you can offer up those who are in need of this desprate help?

Yes, take your wife to a riding class and talk with the instructor. Let him/her tell her all they know about the joy of being on two wheels. Or just tell your wife the only thing certain in this life is death and not buying a bike is going to stop that and you would like to enjoy your life to the fullest.

Now she'll tell you to think about your family and what will happen if you die on that bike. You tell her, the same thing that would happen if I die in the car. See people like to play a game with dieing on a bike. Like if you die on the bike, it's a different death than any other way of dieing. I see it as being dead. No different dead than a heart attack, stroke, car crash, gun shot or any of the other millions of ways to die. Once your dead, your dead.

Don't let your wives fool you into thinking your going to live forever cause you don't ride a bike.

My wife was pro-bike due to the fuel mileage and that it seemed to make me happy, however I took my first little spill last week and now she is dead set on me selling it as soon as I can get the tank fixed. Hell, I want to keep on riding. We shall see. So, I need to change my vote.

my fiance loves the bike for the same reason (gas issue) but last night she saw how easy high wind could push us and does not like it anymore. haha

My wife had an uncle she never met. He died before she was born in a motorcycle accident.

She's the type of person, the first serious spill I have will have her screaming to get rid of the scoot.

that's the thing, mine was very minimal. Her stance is that "I got lucky this time" and she doesn't want to chance a next time.

If anything, I feel like taking that first spill makes you a better rider and that if anything I will be even more aware now. I don't know, someone jump in and tell me if I'm wrong.
