I don't have a hater. but she refuses to ride. Could care less if she even saw the bike, but don't care where or when I ride. I am greatful for that but would love to get her out once and see if she would end up liking it.
I was out once a few years ago and had a lightning strike close by ( felt like I had been snapped by a wet towel in my ankle ) She had heard that the odds of getting struck by lightning twice is greater than winning the lotto. Now every time there is a thundersorm out, she says "Maybe you should go for a ride" Somehow I don't think my getting another strike will increase her chances of winning the lotto.

hmmm----maybe it's the life insurance instead of the lotto that she's after

my SO use to hate me riding considering i fell the second day i got it and when i got it out the shop got it impounded by police because they thought i was running from the them. After riding for a while she said she doesnt want to see me hurt without her so she bought herself a helmet and we borrow a jacket from one of my friends and ride everyonce in a while. Thank God i have not had any serious problem since the two. that's why my bike is called unicorn like gone in 60 seconds haha

My wife is good about it. She'll ride around with me to run errands and to go out to eat and stuff. Maybe once or twice a season we'll take a longer ride. I bought her full gear last year and she absolutely hates it. She doesn't like full face helmets or the weight of the armored coat.

Track, not so much. The first thing she got to see was a guy crash right in front of her. If it wasn't for Tab, that would have been the end of it. She loves the people and the atmosphere, the crashing...not so much. Every time there is a red flag, I get a dirty look.

I really do believe that it all boils down to them "concerned" for our safety. I know we might not always agree with their rational but they just don't want to see us get hurt! Understood.... but when a boy wants his "TOYS", we are willing to do what is nessicary!(I'm not to proud to beg!! lol)

I really envy you guys whose wives ride. My wife hates my bike so much that she cries every time I leave the house on it. She's absolutely sure she'll never see me alive again. Of course, I didn't help much when I bought it. I backed it out of the trailer, adjusted the mirrors, drove down the driveway about 50 feet, and dumped it on my left leg. The neighbor had to pick it off me so I could get up. Two weeks later, I dumped it on my right leg in an intersection. I told my friend not to tell his wife, because she would tell my wife. By the time I got home, I was so swollen up and stiff that I could barely walk. She knew immediately when I limped into the house. I'm surprised I'm not talking in a higher voice!!! BUT - I'm still riding!

It took a bit of persuasion to help my wife to see my reasons for wanting a bike. Add to this, the cost of the bike as well as the safety course, and lets just say I had some slainin' to do, but in no time she was on board.

Fast forward a few years, and between my wife and 3 daughters, who all love to ride, I have to keep track of who rode with me last. There seems to be a steady line waiting for her turn. Seems the only time I get solo riding now is to and from work...

I like to think I'm doing my part to keep riding alive...in that if my daughters future husbands want to get a bike...the hard part is done.

Went on a couple short rides this weekend. Had to fill up yesterday. When I calculated the mileage and told her 48mpg, she said that's great.

The wife has had a license for many years, but pilots the bike rarely. I bring home bikes that are too big, too heavy. Looking now for something entertaining for me and small enough for her.

Thanks for the nod Tim...life's gotten busier lately, so I've been more of a quick lurker. I see your vocabulary has expanded somewhat.

Congrats on the birth of your daughter! You're going to love being a hero. My girls are 18, 16 and 13 and while they've caused a grey hair or two,(you just reminded me why I bought a bike), we're closer than I ever thought possible. Congrats bud...Congrats!

My wife knew I rode when she met me. As a matter of fact, the day after the party where we met (I was having a kegger lol) I took her along with some buddies for our Sunday hangover cure ride.

We used to ride together a lot but since she's had leg problems she doesn't do it as much any more.

She still says I'm safer when I ride on 2 wheels than when I'm driving on 4.

My bike was one of the first things that got my gf's attention (along with teh cowboy hat). She loved to ride the SV for short rides and whatnot, and she had never ridden on a bike before. We have done a few 4 hour long rides on it, but anything more than that and we both would get uncomfortable.

She has absolutely fallen in love with the marauder now. Comfy seat, backrest, and a better view while riding. She is most certainly not a hater of bikes or me riding. She is aware of the other morons on the rode and has seen it first hand while on the bike with me. That being said, she also sees how much attention I pay while riding and how cautious I am of other cagers.

Also, for awhile my gf's dad hated me because I rode a motorcycle, but that quickly changed. I got him to get a bike himself and soon he saw why I rode. We all now ride together on the weekends. So you can change people's minds, it just takes some time.

Cheryl loves to ride, in fact I have her blessing to get a bigger bike and keep the 50.

Hey thanks!I really hope when my son and daughter are 18 I can look back and say the same thing! I do have to laugh, cause I have my laptop in the room with my wife and baby, but my wife hasn't complained once since I have been in here about me talking on the forum, and last night she even said she wanted to get my daughter pink chaps/jacket to take pics on the bike next year! This has been a eye opening experence for me!

<sigh> Way past my bedtime but I got me a new fandangled computer so now I can actually log into here without the 30 minute delay between posts.

Well lucky for me my wife (weird saying that still) loves to ride. In fact she has been bugging the pee outta me to get back on my bikes again.

I told her I absolutely refuse till I get the money to get me another Shoei helmet again. So I guess I have become the hater in this scenario.

Life is easy though when the S/O loves to ride and doesn't care if you do either.
