Default Idiot Squids are at it again

Driving home from work today I saw this Squid in the HOV lane doing an excess of 80 mph with his feet on the rear pegs doing a wheelie. He traveled for quite some time on the rear wheel. He lowered his crotch rocket and another Squid came up on my six and went after him at a higher speed. Both were switching lanes (all four) in rush hour traffic. They were wearing helmets, that’s about as much protection I saw.

I wonder if they realize how much they startled me, you don’t know they’re coming until it’s too late. I wonder if they considered the consequences if they wiped out causing death and destruction.

If I was a cop I would have went after them, took their bikes and suspended their motorcycle license for good. I’ve seen these guys before. Both on Crotch Rockets, one red the other blue.

The weather was warm, about 68º, winds from the south at 20 gusting to 35 mph, road dry.

All it would take would be some driver not seeing them and switching lanes, it would have been all over for the both of them and the other drivers around them on the road.

They will eventuallly meet their maker.....it's unfortunate.....but I guess some people just don't take the extra step and think things out.

Funny, I was just reading an article last night about impounded bikes.

The "Cannonball Bike Race" was crossing through Switzerland last August. The CBR is an illegal road race, where rich guys try to race across the continent as fast as possible. Well, they were trying to cross the Alps last summer (at more than double the allowed speed limits), and the Canton police in Wallis (who know the mountain passes like the back of their hand) set up a trap. They managed to stop the racers and confiscate the bikes as "evidence".

Now, almost 6 months later, the bikes are still in police custody, and they are still discussing what will happen to them - if they will be returned to the owners or confiscated and sold.

The CBR participants will have to get new bikes for this year's race, which will take place in Africa.

Whats really bad is that those of us who ride those type bikes and don't squid are simply lumped into the same category as those nerds that do squid.

Squiders seem to be under the false impression that squiding is a show of their great riding skills. Its all great until they wipe out then the parents wanna get all involved screaming that crotch rockets are unsafe cause their stupid kid was killed on one and now we should outlaw and ban them.. grrrrrr... I feel like a Landry rage coming on here..lol

I see it pretty much every day here. Down in Tucson last weekend a 18 year old kid on a rocket hit the back of an SUV, he was going so fast that when he hit it, the bike exploded and he was killed instantly.

I feel sorry for the family of this kid, and I kind of feel sorry for the kid being young and all. We all thought we were indestructible at that age. But like anything we confuse freedom with common sense. I wish they had the licensing policies like they do in Europe? Where you can only ride a certain size bike for a while and then move up? Anybody from over there that can explain this?

To me, nowadays, there's too much privilege and not enough work. Things come too easy and thus, there's no time to gain respect for those things that can kill you. If you put the "Toys" out of reach of kids, they won't be able to reach them till they're old enough or smart enough.

Amen to that brother.

It may appear to the untrained eye that all some of us do is sit here and type our nonsense, but believe it or not, I'm actually one of our most productive engineers. I'm not bragging, I'm just saying.

It appears that we as a country have bought into our own fantasies of being above the requirement to accomplish things. Everyone wants to life the life of a movie star: no work, all play, and keep the checks coming.

I see people that come to work everyday and accomplish nothing. They think that just because their butt kept the seat warm for 8 hours they should be compensated.

THAT is the mentality that will result in a juxtaposition of our quality of life to developing countries.

I agree, my wife's nephew has a Honda CBR 924 all souped up with all kinds of stuff. He said it has 150 hp. When he started it in my garage, it sounded like an explosion!!! especially compared to my 92 - 750 Nighthawk. He doesn't ride real crazy and I think now that he's a Special Agent he's going to sell it.

I don't have to be a mind reader to see someone come to work everyday and do nothing. They are definitely cashing the checks as payment for doing nothing, so I don't understand why you're defending these types unless you condone paid seat warming. Personally, I have to do a little work to earn my pay or I just don't feel good about myself. Whatever allows you to sleep at night.

As far as being smarter than everybody else: wrong answer, McFly. I never said I was smart, just a good employee. Big difference.

I can look like i'm slacking, but when its necessary I can get a lot done. I get my work done, fix problems, I go home. People who matter see my results. People i work with see me as a slacker..

I've seen people come in, collect their paycheck and sit around doing jack squat all day long. I would never defend these people. But they did make me look better to say the least..

So, what're you saying? That you're a mind reader that thinks he's smarter than everyone else?

I bet you're wearing a "#1" shirt right now, aren't you?

Nope, what i'm saying is that the people who think i'm a slacker are the certain people who sit around playing on the net or playing on their crackberry while i'm off talking and creating networks within other labs. Hence why i know their operations which are in direct correlation to our operations. Its all about who you know... I know i'm replaceable so i'm just increasing my value within my department.

I was just picking fun at you because of the earlier posts. I still bet you're wearing a "#1" shirt, though!

Check.

Today, I'm in my blue suit (Italian suit! . . . made in China ), with my blue shirt and my blue tie (blue silk boxers and blue socks, white t-shirt (no #1)). Shoes are black to break the monotony of bluedom.

[EDIT] Oh yeah, I'm growing a beard! First one ever. Itches like crazy and looks bad. Upside: I'm a messy eater, so on Friday I can strian hot water through it and make soup!!
