Default Off the wall question....

Hey yall! I hope this message finds you in good spirits. I got a question for you. Does anyone dip while riding your motorcycle? By dip, I mean smokeless tobacco, Skoal. I don't smoke, but I do dip like a crazed porch monkey.
I have not been able to think of a way to be able to dip while riding a bike, due to one hand having to be removed to spit, nor access to your lips while riding a helmet. In the army when we had to wear our gas masks those of us who dipped would attach a straw and spit down that. And yes, you are correct in thinking that it was disgusting.
Anyway, let me know if any of yall have ever heard anything about it. I wear a full face helmet just to put that out there. It actually just got here this morning. HJC AC-12. I have been wearing it for the past hour to get used to it and make sure it does not have any hot spots. Well thanks in advance for any help.

Do you really need that artificial stimulation when you're riding? Sounds like an opportunity to me.

...eeewwww.... why dont you just swallow it? that way you can double or triple the chances that it kills you.

I always associate tobacco use with a (potentially unconscious) death wish.... life overall is not such a positive experience by itself...so lets play with killing ourselves....

I'm from Norway and I guess the smokeless tobacco we use, is not the same. I use it, but I do not have to spit at all. Just put it under your upper lip, and that's it

Hahaha. How true that is. Without fear of the repricussions of this statement, I swallow for the first few minutes, then it just gets to be too much for me.
Wow, that sounds horrible. What is this magical dip you speak of that no spitting is involved?

I checked out that website. How much does it cost? I can't see a place to try and order it. As long as its not Copenhagen I am always up to try something new to suck on. Haha. And yes, that last statement was put in there as a joke.

It's quite expensive where I live, but hey, everything is expensive in my country, everything. One box costs 50 norwegian kroners which is about 9 bucks.

I don't know what it would cost in America, or what you will have to pay if you want to order. Sorry

Just remember, you can choose between regular, or pouch. If you choose regular you have to physically mold it inside your hand before you stick it up your lip. A pouch is just to stick up

Regular(loose)

Portion(pouch)

Most of the dip over here is the loose kind. There are a few people that make pouches. I used the pouches when I started. The loose kind I always just mold inside the can and put the lip candy to work. I am going to try to find a spot to order it to give it a try though.

Just remember, General is a trademark, THE brand of all brands. I've tried them all, but I allways return to General. Everybody I know says the same.
And we know this tobacco, so try General first.

Hey Everyone. Alright, let me ask you what you think of this idea. Just for the record, no, I doubt I will ever do this, but I do think it would look kind of funny. Get a small garden hose, or shower hose, and connect it to the inside of your helmet to put next to your mouth. Then, trace the line down the side of your back to have it point down just beyond your rear tire at an angle. When you have to spit, you just spit in the line, and then blow (insert giggles) and then the spit just flows right behind your back. This serves two purposes. One, gets rid of dip spit, and two, it will help people stay away from riding your ass.
I am going to get one of my buddies to draw up a design of it on CAD and I will post it on here in a few days after the office opens back up.

Do you want an honest answer?

Oh, wait, you already got one...

Do you REALLY want to add to that the need to spit at 50 mph without spitting on yourself?

Either this is a new form of TROLL post, or you really haven't given this much thought. Drilling holes in the chin section of your helmet to allow a "spit tube" will weaken that section of the helmet - if you have an accident, and that part of the helmet (which takes the highest percentage of impact in most accidents) fails, it's your fault.

And I don't even want to think about having to clean that tube...

Sealed pipes for Tobacco? If I remember from my "friends" earlier days I would say they are the one hit wonders. Very good for that tobacco. THe pipe for spitting would not alter the helmet, it would come up through the neck opening, ya know, the big ole hole thats already there to let your head in.

Here's my suggestion.. Usually dipping is just more or less out of habbit than anything else.. so.. why not try dipping something like shredded beef jerky and swallow? It comes in a skoal type can and is cut the same way. SO just dip that for a few hours while riding, swallow the juice.. and when your done riding just get your normal dip out..

I'm a vegetarian. Just kidding. But I am fat, which means if I have shreeded beef in my mouth, I am probably going to eat it. But, I have only had one dip today, and that was while watching the Patriots, so I am hoping I can cut it down. No dip means an extra 130 a month, which means more stuff for the bike in the long run.

My buddy dips when he rides, he also has to ride in the back. There are 15 of us that ride togather and no one has riden behind him twice.
