Default Rear tire ready!

Just got through studding the tires with 11mm car studs. Pretty easy- don't need a die grinder turning 30000rpms if you have a really sharp drill bit- and simple green is even better lubricant than anti-freeze- my old fave.

That's a serious back tire.

You da' man. I would love to have a back tire like that. I could go downtown . . . at night . . . in the alleys . . . and run over bums with it.

Man, am I jealous right now.

I am hoping to make a run to Prudhoe bay in January- this little run might make some reality TV if I pull it off- it being so crazy and all.

Apparently, a guy riding a motorcycle above the arctic circle in a blizzard makes good TV.

Unless it's gonna be above 65 degrees, count me out. Wow.

Put a minus sign in front of that and you are about good to go!

They need to be about an inch longer and sharpend to a fine point.

Will your bike even run at that temp ?? My uncle worked at Prudhoe Bay, and further north, if I remember right he never shut the truck down because it would freeze immediately. And under no circumstances would you take a leak outside.

That's what I thought at first, but the bums may actually get hung up on the tread if you do that. I just want to puncture each one and move on to the next. A bum'll ruin a good chain if he gets caught in there.

My trusty honda has started no problem at -20 if it wasn't allowed to completely cold soak, and I have actually put it outside to test it at -40, and with some cranking and lots of choke, it did start.

I use car studs, as this will be primarily hiway driving, and there will be long runs of dry pavement- dry cold pavement. You have less stopping power with studs on pavement.

So it is a tradeoff between ice and pavement traction.

I am now testing how long the studs will stay in, and how fast I kick them out of the tire. I really need them to last about 1400 miles.

I dont' know what the heck he is talking about going potty outside. I have been out there in -70 and had to pee- nature didn't hold back jess cause it's cold!

Speaking of minus temps and stuff freezing I had an odd experience last week. You all know of the kid that took the dare and put his tongue on the flag pole and having it instantly frozen in place. Well I was in my unheated garage adjusting my router that is attached to my table saw. I had the normal nose leakage on my mustache. As I was doing my thing my stache made contact with my steel table rails. Yep, you guessed it, instantly frozen. Took me a minute to get it loose using my warm finger.

Never had a problem with peeing outside in low temps. It's not comfortable but as CR said nature don't hold back.

Cool tires BTW I have thought of doing that but I would probably total my bike on the road.
