Just wanted to introduce myself because I just found this forum on Google and after reading some of the great post, I think I found a new home. This forum seems very nice and mature over some other forums I visit (mostly computer type forums).

Also I am 22 yrs old in Asheville, NC and thinking about getting a bike for the first time. I have never road one before but was looking at the GSRX-600.

I also noticed a lot of people post about the MSF and I need to find a place around here. Lenior looks about the closest. Any tips, advice, etc would be greatly appreciated.[/code]

Read the links. They point the right way. Since this topic has been discussed waaaaaaayyyyy too many times already, read through the forums more. You'll be surprised at how deadly the 600cc sportbike can be in the wrong (inexperienced) hands.

Don't buy a GSX-R for your first bike. It's too expensive on insurance for a new rider and very unforgiving to newbies. Make one mistake on that bike, and you could pay very dearly for it. Most people around here would recommend a GS500F. It's a lighweight sportbike that's great for learning on and comparatively cheap to insure versus the Gixxer line-up.

Looking into the MSF. I am going to talk to the dealership here and see what they say. Looks like the only one in NC is 5 hrs away. I can't do that

Welcome aboard, but don't expect much maturity from this crowd. We're mostly newbies.

Hey pug, welcome! From your avitar, one could get the impression that you belong to the fair sex. If so, you'll enjoy a warm welcome here - when Janis joined a few weeks ago, we set new records for posts in a single day!

Why don't you mention Maserati and Fiat, Aprilla and Moto Guzzi? Not to mention Espresso, Cappucino, Pasta and Antipasta?

Geez, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!

Sorry Janis ... I guess I need to get some sleep

Don't mind him, his brain clouded over as a side effect of living in Switzerland
He meant you're a woman...or at least your avatar shows a female face.
(nice glasses!)

Well, since you're posting your digits, you missed the most important one!

I did! Didn't I?

I had a ride with my new gixxer today and...well she's really a lil' beast, I don't think it's a good choice as a first bike. I owned 2 CBR's before and, let me tell you, those new 600's are A LOT different.
(and I'm using half the RMP cause I'm still breaking it in)
