| I currently have 2 bikes ('05 Kawi MS and '03 Intruder vs800). I really don't have that much use for 2 cruisers, and find myself riding the MS more lately. I've been thinking about getting a sport bike to replace the Intruder. I can get a new '06 Katana at a decent price, but was unsure about this. It's not FI and it's pretty heavy for a sport bike (458 lbs). It's actually heavier than my Intruder (443). But mainly, I need one that has a comfy seating position, but handles well in the curves. Everything I've read about this bike sounds pretty good, but wanted to get some insight from those that have owned a Katana. Any ideas here? Anything (good/bad) to be aware of?

| Look into a Yamaha FZ6/FZ1 - Inline-4 w/ fuel injection and very comfortable. It's only half-faired though. There are options out there.

| I actually sat on the FZ1 last weekend. I even have that as my screensaver, but having the 30" inseam, I just did not like the fact that my heels couldn't touch when stopped. beautiful bike though.

| Ah yeah, it is a bit tall. I'm 6'3" and can flatfoot any bike on the market.... I guess I just always overlook something like that.

| Nothing at all wrong with a Katana. My Bandit is very much the same bike, and I have no trouble railing the twisties and cruising with Jolene. You don't need 385 lbs. and 120 hp in a sporty bike.

| well - tonight I sat on the Katana. It just so happened that there was an FZ6 right next to it. I guess I never considered that bike. It felt really good, so I think I now prefer the FZ6 over the Katana. I thought I would get a much better deal on the Kat - but it didn't work out unless I bought a specific Kat (which I did not like). Anyway - I had never really noticed the FZ6 prior to tonight. Glad you mentioned that bike.

| I had the 06 Kat and liked it alot. Comfy bike and powerful. There are some limitations to it and actually I think it falls more into the sport touring class than a true sport bike such as the cbr 600 and so on.. you will doubtfully hang with those bike to any great extent..
