| We wouldn't use them when I was in the Army. A roll of TP and an entrenching tool was sufficient.. The Portapotties were unbearable to go in during summertime, especially in Florida. The cooking blue water had an incredible odor..

| I wouldn't put anyone else's life in danger by placing a motorcycle on that thing and pulling it down the road. Just my 2 cents on make do and cheap trailers. I didn't look at the price on the trailer but I'm sure coming from Porta, it's not cheap in price.

| It looks safer then that thing you just hang off the bumper.. ![]() this thing just doesn't look like a safe way to carry a bike and if you go over a bumpy railroad track or hit some bumps in the road I can't imagine that one metal extension arm holding a 400+ pound bike very well. could be wrong but I am not trusting my bike to it. |

| Does it hook up to the trailer hitch like those rectangular luggage things? I've used them before and we just bought one of the fold up kind. I put mu trailer hitch on myself. I know it is sturdy. But I don't think I'd feel real confident putting that much weight on it. Plus, how would you get a 550 pound bike on one of those? There's really no room to drive on to it and still have a place to put your foot down. Maybe you need a big friend to help lift it up onto the carrier.

| The problem isn't with carrying the weight (though most vehicles will sag terribly with it hanging out like that), but with the twisting forces. You can't safely put that much torque on a 2x2 tube. I can't find any serious problems with the trailer, though I can't imagine where I'd use it. For emergencies, maybe.

I kept thinking thats just a small piece of tubing holding that thing on! What does a scooter like that even weigh? 200 pounds? now do the same with a 400+ pound bike? not me.. I am brave and/or stupid but I'm that brave..lol

| Never understood why some folks spend so much for motorcycle trailers they'll use less than once-a-month. If your using it any less than that...RENT a trailer. But to your post rathr-b...nope no experience with those there, but I've seen stuff that looks A LOT less reliable.

| Last night I pickep up and put together one of the folding luggage carriers that mount like the bike carrier pictured at the beginning of this thread. My carrier advertises a max weight of 350 ponds. Of course being foldable probably sacrifices some of its max load limit. Still, putting a 550 pound bike would seem way to much for the side the side torquing effect for the receiver to handle safely.
