Default Harley's new ad

Just makes me so mad I could scream!!! The picture is of the new Rocker model parked in front of the Last Chance Saloon. With the quote "As close to heaven as some men will ever come." Sounds like Harley is encouraging drinking and riding!!! Really pisses me off

Dan

Do you have a picture of the ad?
From your description it sounds more like the last chance to have something close to heaven.
Personally I don't know why the bike ad caught your attention...that thing is butt ugly!

Ok maybe I am looking at a different subliminal message in the ad.
And yes a bar is a saloon...So if they had a bikini clad model propped up on the bike would they be encouraging the riding without gear lifestyle?

Man, Wistrick, if it really makes you that mad, I recommend you relax a little. That can't be good for your health.

I'm totally against drinking and riding/driving, but dang, does the add really makes you want to scream? Advertising has never quite been so powerful to me.

If people wanna ride without gear thats there deal. But drinking and riding endangers other people on the road.

I know Harley uses its image to sell bikes but I think the ad is telling people its ok to drink and ride, which its not

What's a "my ad"? I'd look for this ad if I could figure out what you're talking about.

Some rides are better without gear.
It depends on exactly WHAT you will be riding!

I don't care for the Rocker but I have been known to visit a bar or two while out cruising. In fact I left Hooter's a couple of hours ago, (watched my Titans get beat).

Just ask Annie. In another thread, she had some witty words of inspiration in regards to riding.

A Harley in front of a bar!

Oh what will they think of next.

Most Harley's on any given weekend are parked in front of a bar; get over it.

I thought all yous on the West Coast were "open and forgiving" and this and that.

Which goes into a whole 'nother political argument that I won't go into right here, right now.

.........................at the end of the day, any given producer is trying to sell their product in a way that gets people to buy it.

If it ticks you off, don't buy Harley...

Buy a Ducati, Moto Guzi, BMW ( or as I say, from "Das Fatherland"), a Triumph, a Riddley, or one of the metrics.

Its not THAT big of a deal....Harley is not trying to encourage you to drink and ride. They are trying to encourage you to buy one of their bikes. You read WAY too far into the ad.

It just wasn't meant to be that deep.

aw, yup.

Let us consider a few things for the moment;
a bike is not a "necessary means of transportation."
a bike is 10 x more likely to get you killled, that's right killed per mile travelled than by car ( might be only 9 x, check the dot)

.........and you are getting all worked up by what exactly?

Well he does have a point. Ads can subconsciously make you think of things or activities that may not necessarily be healthy for you. For instance, this motorcycle ad disturbs me because it encourages sun bathing which, as we have learned, can be detrimental to your health in that it can significantly increase your risks of skin cancer. Being an advocate of healthy skin, I am offended by this ad. I feel the model should be properly clothed and apply an adequate amount of sunscreen.

You know, I think I might just write this advertiser and complain. Yes, I will do that. I can't believe they actually allow this kind of stuff. It is just a travesty to know that our morals have sunken so low that proper skin care is relegated to a level of complete unimportance.

Hmmm... well, I might just be over reacting.... What do you all think? Do you all have a problem with this ad?

Wilstrick, I love you, man!
