Default Old Riders

Jan. 1, 2008 I will be 64 next Monday (Jan. 7 ) Getting ready to go out today for a short ride like I do every new years day. Today may be shorter than most because of the temp. / rain / and snow coming. But what the heck even 25 miles is better than none.

54, riding a Suzuki M50 I boughtin July, my first bike since I was 25. I'm a teenage boy again!

The thing about getting older I find really funny: "How about about that? The cop in that police car next to me is about 12 years old!"

Amen to that brother, I rode north through New Hampshire into Canada last June, and it was like going through a magic portal of some kind when I crossed the border.
I went from fun twisty mountain roads, to straight flat boring farmland in the blink of an eye.

Late 50's for me, and still going strong. I feel like I'm slacking if I don't do at least one long (3000 plus mile) trip every year.

PERKS OF BEING OVER 50 or, If you're not over 50, this is what you have to look forward to.

1. Kidnappers are not very interested in you.

2. In a hostage situation you are likely to be released first.

3. No one expects you to run--anywhere.

4. People call at 9 pm and ask, "Did I wake you???"

5. People no longer view you as a hypochondriac.

6. There is nothing left to learn the hard way.

7. Things you buy now won't wear out.

8 You can eat dinner at 4 pm.

9. You can live without sex but not your glasses.

10. You get into heated arguments about pension plans.

11. You no longer think of speed limits as challenge.

12. You quit trying to hold your stomach in no matter who walks into the room.

13. You sing along with elevator music.

14. Your eyes won't get much worse.

15. Your investment in health insurance is finally beginning to pay off.

16. Your joints are more accurate meteorologists than the national weather service.

17. Your secrets are safe with your friends because they can't remember them either.

18 Your supply of brain cells is finally down to manageable size.

19. You can't remember who sent you this list!

And you notice these are all in Bitg Bold Print for your convenience.

You should forward this to anyone you can remember!!

Have A Happy Day

Wink Old Farts Over Fifty

Hello everyone I am one of the old farts you see on the road everyday, in the summer time on my bike. I just wanted to say that once you reach the age of fifty some people think you become stupid. To give you a little to think about, when I was sixteen I was convinced that My Parents were the stupidest people in the world, I left home to work on the Oil Rigs and returned five years later. After being away for five years I was totally amazed at how much my parents had learned while I was away. Just goes to show you that when we are young we aren't as smart as we like to believe we are, Take care and stay safe. Doug (Mechanic)

Well, I'm fifty so I guess that qualifies me as a older rider. Rode for about 50 miles saturday before christmas. It was about 48 degrees. Haven't rode since, I was feling under the weather new years weekend. had my first ride in the 60's, it was a mini bike when I was 10 years old. Man I thought that was a awesome ride.. My 10 year old grandson doesn't know what a mini bike is, boy have times changed.

You are lucky knucklehead, my first powered ride was on a Doodlebug. I googled it and found a pic of one.
That had to be right at 60 years ago?

....well, I am 56 and only been riding for 3 yrs or so. I cant beleive I missed out on this for so long! Looking forward to a lot more years.

first bike was a restored 1962 Chang Jiang w/sidecar...while my husband and I lived in China. I had to get an endorsement to ride it in the US and that finally got me up on a 2 wheeler. The CJ is sold now... and so am I ..on riding on 2 wheels....

Amen to that. As my dad always told me:" It is very hard to put a 40 year old head on a set of 20 year old shoulders".
