It really depends on my mood relative to the temperature outside, i.e. how bad I want to ride versus how cold it is.

As has been mentioned previously, once it gets below freezing and the potential exists that I would come across an icy bridge I have to really want to go riding.

So, in general, I'd have to say freezing. But only for safety reasons.

I ride in almost 70 miles to work at sometimes 3AM and I used to freeze my extremities to the bones. Just with the heated gloves I am 110% more comfortable down at 38° running 70-75 for over an hour non-stop. I have found that in the past the cold didn't set in till about 30 miles out and it was hell the rest of the way in, now with my Gerbing's I'm good all the way in...

Damn I sound like a testimonial on a infomercial, (in a monotone voice, arms to the sides, standing stiff and upright, while looking into the camera)" I can't bee-lieve how good they work, you too should get Gerbing's heated clothing and...'feel the warmth'..." Hahaha...LOL...sorry I need sleep...
Wait until you get the liner then see how you feel. Its amazing how a little heat makes you feel on a bike.

It dipped below 70 here this morning.

I had to stop and pull a liner out of the bags.

What a frickin' travesty.

It was -1 C when I rode to work this morning. I think I need to buy some warmer pants.

I expect to keep riding for another month, but I won't ride on snow or freezing rain days.

I love hot weather, the hotter the better, so about 70 is it for me. The coldest I have ridden for any length of time was 40 and I nearly died, even w/ proper clothing. My reaction time gets slow, I can't get my hands to work the brake or clutch fast enough. Besides the carb'ed Harley runs like crap in cold weather.

The coldest I've ridden was at 34F. But it was totally dry with no chance of ice or snow.
That's about the lowest I'm willing to ride. Any colder and it isn't fun any more so why do it!

That's about 30F for us Amr'cans...that's damn cold.
I figure I might spring for some heated gear and ride all winter long.

It's 26F right now and I will be trying a new road this morning. Cold does not bother me much it's the heat that makes me sluggish and uncomfortable. My theory, the only way to adjust to the cold is to be in the cold. I do dress up, longjohns, turtle neck, sweatshirt and chaps. I have to say that my toes do get a little cold due to my steel toe boots. Other than that I feel exhilarated in the cold. To me it's the same as a snowmobile just a bit more dangerous.

32F down here in "The Cities" this morning. I was planing on riding in today, but I have a bridge I have to cross to get to work and it's been known to be slippery at this temp, so I took the truck instead. I'm sutch a woos. I hear what your saying about the cold, I feel the same way, but cold/slippery blacktop is a whole nother thing.

One C??????????
Now that's COLD!!!
Well of course you live in an area known for ski resorts so no wonder....

Wow, I'm starting to feel lucky.
I can still walk around with a short sleeve T-shirt during the day. After sun down though, it starts to get cold.

Last year, though, I was riding early in the morning during winter and the motorcycle that was right in front of me suddenly flipped and disappeared.

I stopped to help and the rider said the asphalt was frozen. Sure enough it had this icy shine to it's surface. Since then, I'm a little scared when I ride during early hours duing winter.

with clear and dry roads I have rode at 28º F no windshield

I do have a windshield this year

I think I had better go out again today, da wedder man say it gonna snow tonight. Bridge, what bridge? I thought it fell in the river a couple months ago. I "found" a couple nice twistie roads today, cr22 & cr21 out of Cold Spring/Richmond. I think these are Clint's roads though. I don't mind cold blacktop it's the paint and soft shoulders that scare me. Yes, your are a woos, or is it wuss? Try one of these next time

Not one C. MINUS One Celsius. As in below freezing.

But it's been bone dry, so it's not too bad. I would not ride in that if it'd been wet, because there'd be too much risk of black ice.

I went looking for winter pants, but couldn't find anything in my size. D'oh! But today I found a fix. I went looking through my closet and found some rarely worn fleece pants. They just fit underneath my leather pants <inhale>, and are toasty warm. Much better than my cotton or polypro long johns.

I took the V Strom out after work, but it was 50* by than, maybe I need a side car, or some of those outriggers I saw on a Wing last month. 20 years ago I'd ride down to 32*, but not anymore, and your right, it's wuss.

I got a pair of Neoprene riding gloves and tested them out today. It works pretty good.

Yeah, I made it home just fine. I've been in the shop making Xmas and wedding gifts also getting all the riding time I can squeeze in. I did take cr22 yesterday, nice twisty road. Cornered hills are a blast!! Is that the road you were talking about Clint? I wanted to ride cr21 but could not find it. It did not flurry last night so I think I had better get the bike out and see if I cannot find it today.
