Oooooh my goodness!!! Now that last one tickled my fancy quite nicely. Imagine that in street legal form. Hell, that would be a hoot on a real tight road course. Really, though, wouldn't that be like a snowmobile on pavement, essentially? Kinda sorta??

Four wheelers can be street legalized here in Arizona. You don't see it much in the metro area, but it's quite common on the outskirts and expecially the more rural parts.

Tucson's not that rural. Ok we don't see many down here either. I've only seen two myself.

Can Am is practically begging people to test ride the Spyder.

The riding style took some getting used to, but I got the hang of it, the fun really began. Put a little faith in the suspension and it you realize it handles pretty well. And you can feel the front end working over the bumps. And it gets up and goes.

Problems I had were heat radiated onto my ankles. Not scorching but noticeable on a warm day. The brakes on the one I rode were just about done. Squeeling at every application. And that motor that went like stink was a little unruly. More backfiring than I would have expected. But the sound and the power when you wrung it out... Oh yeah...

I brought the subject of street legal 4-wheelers to the dealer yesterday. Because we live in Missouri, he tells me that the law here says that if the manufacturer built it for off road, no matter how we put turn signals, etc., on it, it's illegal to ride on the streets. I thought that wasn't fair, since a trike is almost a 4-wheeler!

Check with your DMV, the dealers have been known to be wrong from time to time.

we have golf carts on the roads here.... well, Sun City mostly, but they are legal on roads 35mph and less.

they also let those Polaris things on the roads here.... not the 4 wheeler, but the ones that look like glorified golf carts.... not sure the exact term for them.

Yep, very slooooow.

they have been raising the speed limits around here in areas because of the growth, and lowering them in others..... Around me, the majority of the streets are 45 mph, too fast for them.

The bad thing is, that between Surprise and Phoenix is Sun City.... famous for their elderly, and that is where you find most of the golf carts. It's good for them though, some of them are to the point they cannot handle a car anymore so this makes them still able to get around.

Wow, that thing must be a handful. a short wheelbase, and a high center of gravity is never a good combination.

Any idea what the story is on that rig? Only reason I ask, is because it looks a bit foreboding having a police car in the background.
