Default Oh deer

For the second time this week, I saw deers at the same stretch of my favorite canyon road.

On Wednesday evening, I was on my SV and had just come out of a right-hand corner and saw four lights sticking out of the bushes. Turned out to be a doe and a fawn.

This morning, at the same place, in the opposite direction (a left turn), a doe jumped out of the overgrowing trees on the right side of the road and almost ran into me. Fortunately, she just ran parallel to me, barely a foot from my gixxer, for about maybe 10 ft and then disappeared.

I figure it's the same deer.....

I was riding down to my Mum in Laws place yesterday and a kangaroo hopped across the road right in front of me!!

It was a semi-rural area but I wouldn't have expected to see a kangaroo there. I haven't noticed any kangaroo roadkill around the area but it's obvious that they are in the neighbourhood.

Regards,

Watto.

I hit a deer during an off-road race on a KTM running 65 mph. Not pretty. Amazingly I was not hurt too bad. The bike sufferd some damage and of course it killed the deer, but it was messy.

The rule is, if you see one deer, there's usually more to follow. Deer never travel alone....always in packs.......and if it's more than one deer...it's pronunced deer.....not deer's......??

So why is it, if we see more than one dog, it's dogs?....or birds?......Hmmm? dunno?

I would love to see a wild deer that close...

i'm tempted to mount my 44 mag to the front of my cycle.. well not really but in my mind it looks really sweet! I think bambi has it out for me. 5 tags this year, last year i had 4. the only reason we didn't fill all 10 of our tags last year was cause my dad was one deer from a divorce...

Aside from cagers, deer and cattle on the road are main concern.

Wookie, I think I have an idea, but what is this favorite canyon road of yours? Inquiring local riders want to know.

Glad your situation wasn't worse. I've experienced a lot of deer when I ride the good roads in the area between LA and the Central Coast, but unlike back east and the midwest, they always seem to stay off the roads.

There is a video lurking around on the net somewhere with a guy on a sport bike who hit a deer. He had a cam mounted to his bike and it showed the deer darting out infront of him then all hell broke loose as the bike goes flying. Luckily the rider wasn't hurt but when you figure a deer weighing in at 200+ lbs and you hiting one.. its hard to believe you'd just get up and walk away from it.. SO BECAREFUL!! or ..... set up a deer stand in a tree for jgreth & KD57..lol

Stand?!?

Stalking w/ a bow is the only true hunting method IMHO. Anyone can sit in a stand and wait for deer to come to them.

Yeah...I would rather stalk my Deer as well.

However, I don't use a gun or bow. I prefer to chase them down and beat them with a stick until their eyes glaze over. That's where the real sport is!

You guys are lightweights. I sit down with the game and talk it into turning itself in. THAT'S a sport.

They use a knife? Wusses. I even take my teeth out to bag 'em to make it more fair. I grapple-fight them into a submission hold . . . "TAP OUT YA' FREAKIN' WILD BOAR, TAP THE F OUT!!!!"

Don't want anyone crying that I didn't give them a fighting chance, you see.
