Default Motorcycle Covers

I'm in the market for a cycle cover and want to know if the cheapies($25-$35) range are worth the money as compared to the higher dollar covers. It will be used to keep dust off my bike in the garage. What say you?

If that's all you need, I got an old king-size bed sheet from the wife and put it on with a couple of alligator clips. Mine sits out in a shed so I don't really care what the cover looks like. Nobody sees it but me.

Yup. I've used fitted sheets for years. They're nice because they breathe and the elastic keeps them in place.

I keep my bike in the garage and cover it with an old padded moving blanket....

Yup,those methods are all fine, but my original question is about the quality between cheap and expensive. Does anybody know and purchased either cheap or high dollar covers? Thanks.

I don't have a cover, but I offer this:

1) The most important function of a cover (as I see it) is covering (duh). I would look at the binders (elastic, d-ring, whatever) and decide whether or not it looked like it would stay in place.

2) Obviously a cover made for your particular bike would cost more, but it should fit better, which would mean it should stay on better than generic covers.

3) The second most important function (as I see it) is covering without scratching the bike. By "without scratching the bike" I mean without leaving any scratches . . . not even minor ones. That said, I would think a person would prefer a cover with some sort of a soft lining.

Like I said, I don't own a cover, so I have no real experience, but those are the things that jump right out at me WRT covers and such.

Good luck.

Let us know what you come up with.

I bought one from walmart and it's quality is pretty good. It'll keep the dust off, but it's not rain proof. I had it outside with the cover on and it rained and the bike still got pretty wet.

ill second this, i have a walmart cover for my bike, mainly for dust in the barn, but it was left out one day in the rain, the cover may of well not been on it, rained right through
i am not going to look into getting a good quality cover from the dealer
if all you need is dust cover the $20 is worth it, but it only stops dust

Just purchased the walmart cycle cover for $20.00 today. Ex-large size and The size covers the bike perfectly, looks to be made of polyester-nylon? dunno, but it does what it supposed to and looks good. Thanks to all for your help,I'm a happy camper now
