I was at the dealer last week & sat on a new Concours. I was up on the balls of my feet to balance it (32.1” seat height). I’m 5’8” with only a 30-31” inseam. I made the comment to the salesman about it being a little tall and he said that there are shorter guys than me that ride them! He said it would settle down a bit after a few thousand miles. Yeah, not that much. Even if I lowered it 2 inches, I think it would still be a stretch to flatfoot. I wouldn’t be comfortable riding not being able to plant both feet flat on the ground. I have a few places on my commute where I have to stop on banked curves. That extra 1-3 inch left side drop would be problematic with a bike I couldn’t flatfoot, especially one that’s considered top heavy. I’m about 12-18 months away from either a Connie, FJR, or ST1300 and am just trying to get a feel for them now. Can everybody here flatfoot their bike? If not, what do you do differently to compensate? Thanks, -Sandman |
